DISORGANIZED
ORGANIZATION
A PHOTOESSAY BY MARY NADER
Society has conditioned us to believe
that the most productive means of
studying must incorporate very strict
organization. I have never really
agreed with this idea, as my work
generally goes through a mix of both
organized and unorganized planning
stages. While a very neat and clean
work-station can improve the
productivity of many, it does the
opposite for me. A completely
organized space makes me feel
confined, almost as if I must perfect
everything down to the last detail.
This photo essay disproves the notion
that everything must be planned out
before you do it and that sometimes
it’s beneficial to be unorganized.
Here, I will show how I complete
multiple assignments throughout the
week. Every picture will come in a
pair; a before and after of the
completed assignment. The contrast
of these photos will put an emphasis
on how messy one can be when
completing an assignment and still get
a good grade on it (in this case, I got
an A). The last pair of photos are
different, though. There I show the
messy outlining one must do before
they craft a well-written essay,
showing how messiness and
organization go hand in hand.
