JUSTUS BARTMAN
Humans are a social animal.
We crave for relationships and the
feeling of being connected: both to
each other and to the world around
us.
But because of the coronavirus, we
have been more distanced than ever
before.
Public places, once
saturated with people,
have become a reminder
that the coronavirus isn’t
the only plague running
rampant— loneliness is as
well.
It seems so long ago that we
could go out to various
places and spend time with
our loved ones.
Unfortunately, those places
we once went…
…suffer a similarly
lonely fate
Everything we know about life is changing.
And sometimes, there seems to be no end
in sight. No end to the loneliness. No end
to the masks. No end to the distance now
between us. These are unprecedented
times after all. It’s hard to see how life
could return to how it was.
But even if most of what we know has
changed, there is still so much out there
that has remained the same.
And we’re fortunate to still have
places where we notice that
distance less.
Even if we’re six feet
apart,
we still have
trails to walk
through…
Rivers to
go
through…
And views to behold.
There are still so many
ways we can be together. And
even if we’re distanced
physically at times…
We’ll never be distanced emotionally
Life has changed in so many drastic ways because of the
coronavirus, and things may never be the same again
once this pandemic ends,
but at the very least…
…we’ll no
longer be
distanced.
