I am so honored to have met and worked with suchtalented and supportive folks like you.We would appreciate any help you ladies can provide for the following events:Oct 9, Quarterly meeting: Snacks. We will have an activity for the ladies while the men meet. Plus you can purchasetickets to win one (or both if you desire) of the Alabama or Auburn baskets. The final score (funds raised for each)will be announced during the gun giveaway. Support your team!Oct 10, Gun Giveaway: Serving lunch from 11:00 to 1:00. Then providing heavy hors d’oeuvres at the Red Fez forthose folks who purchased sponsor packages.Oct 28, Golf Tournament: Encouraging folks to bid on the silent auction items,Oct 31, Halloween Party! Get your party costume on! I challenge you ladies to be there because another temple is looking forward toattending. We should have more Alcazar folks there than visitors!Nov 7-8, Alcazar Gun Show/Ladies Bake Sale: Please bring us some of your favorite desserts/sweets for us to sell to the gun show participants.Nov 14, Alcazar Ceremonial: Need help welcoming new Shriner’s Ladies.Nov 29, Decorate temple Oasis for Christmas.Dec 11, Quarterly meeting, elections. The Just One Program is working, and wehave initiated several new Shriners this year. The year is not over. and we are calling on the Nobility to help makethis a banner year. We are asking each Shriner to be a top-line signer on at least one petition for membership inthis great fraternity. Will you help!Alcazar Annual Sportsmen Gun Give Away: Please do all you can and help us sell the gun tickets and sponsorshippacks. It is one of our largest fund raisers and we need to make it a success. Anyone needing more tickets to buy orsell can pick them up from the Alcazar Recorder, Illustrious Sir Lee Sims. Please help us in the monumental effort.Also, every person with a ticket will receive a free lunch on October 10, 2020, starting at 11:00 am. Noble DavidRussell, our Grill Master will be smoking Boston Butts for this event. This will be limited to the first 70 folks thatwant to purchase a Boston Butt. Cost $25.00 each if you pre order and pay -- $30.00 each on the day of the sale.You can arrange to pre order and pay by calling Dave Russell at 334-354-6176. Call now and save $5.00. They will be served hot right out of thesmoker.Largest Peanut Boil in the World: Illustrious Sir Andy Compton and the members of the Crenshaw County Shrine Clubs, along with dozens ofvolunteers made this year’s Peanut Boil a large success again. This was an amazing accomplishment, since they had to implement COVID-19protocols. The wearing of masks, and social distancing did not stop the effort this year. Thanks to everyone who help make this year’s PeanutBoil a great success. I personally, enjoyed spending time with the folks at the Crenshaw County Shrine Club and only hope to be invited backnext year. I congratulate you all for a job well done!Do not forget the River Region Shrine Club will be hosting a FREE Halloween Party on October 31, at the Alcazar Temple, starting at 6:00 pm,for the Nobility and guests. Please mark your calendar and come be with us as we share and evening of fun and fellowship, with friends andfamily.Since this is now a quarterly newsletter, Lady Karen and I would like to congratulate Illustrious Sir Bill Forshey and First Lady Ruth for a job welldone during a challenging year. Page 5Message from the Assistant RabbanGreeting Nobles and Ladies,Shelia and I hope that you and your families are doing well and are safe from this horrific virus. Covid-19 hastaken a toll on many families, businesses and the Shrine. We have lost more than 80% of our rental income, whichprovides a large amount of our yearly budget. The effects it has had on bingo has been dramatic, also. Attendanceis down more than 60% and is not improving much. I pray this will soon end and maybe we can return to normalbefore long.We also want to thank the Phenix City and Wiregrass Shrine Clubs for all their hard work in starting their Bingoprograms back up.On a positive note, the Crenshaw County Peanut boil was a huge success. Those folks have a community offriends, volunteers and Shriners that work together for such a phenomenal cause. People come from near and farjust to get these peanuts. This Shrine Club has the process down to a science and everyone works in tandem. This year they cooked more than36 tons and still ran out by Sunday at noon. If you have never seen this process or tasted these nuts, please try to come next year. I promise youwon’t be disappointed. Thanks to everyone that helped make this a success.Just a reminder, Alcazar is hosting their annual Sportsman’s Gun Give Away on Saturday, October 10 th . We really need your help this year morethan ever. I’m asking each of you to buy at least one book or better yet, sell some tickets to your friends, family or anyone you come in contact.They don’t have to be present to win. It is imperative that this fund raiser is a success, so be selling tickets!Another fundraiser is the Annual Golf Tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, October 28 th at the Robert Trent Golf course inPrattville. All of these funds go to the hospital/transportation fund, which all of you know, is why we even exist. If you know anyone that playsgolf, please tell them about this day. We need more teams. We will provide a meal and we have beverages that are free! Remember, thisfundraiser is 100% tax deductible.River Region Shrine Club will be hosting a Halloween Party on Saturday October 31 beginning at 6:00 pm in the Alcazar Temple Oasis (mainbuilding) or Red Fez Club depending on the number of people that respond to the RSVP. We will provide the meat and entertainment. We askfor you to bring your favorite side dish and the best part is it will be absolutely FREE! We just want everyone to have a good time and enjoythemselves. Please join in the fun!Everyone please remember to come to our Alcazar Gun Show which will be on Nov. 7, 2020. We need as many Nobles to help as possible.Come and support your Temple.We will have a ceremonial at the temple on Nov. 14, 2020. We need everyone to show up and support these new Nobles. Details to follow!Don’t forget the temple elections on Friday, December 11 th with the Temple Christmas Party/Awards night the next evening on Saturday,December 12 th . We are looking for a big turnout at both events.Shelia and I consider it an honor and pleasure to serve this great organization. We will continue to work to make this Temple the very best itcan be.
