SELF LOVE AFTER CANCER
A
breast cancer survivor has been through
many emotions; some too difficult to put
into words. Beyond the emotions, are
also, physical changes. Surgery and
chemotherapy can cause scars, loss of feeling and
sensitivity which forever alter the reflection in the
mirror. These treatments can also cause loss of
hair, weight gain and changes to the texture of
your skin and nails. All of these physical changes
can make it hard to revive self-esteem and
confidence.
Here are tips on how to show yourself selflove,
a top priority so that you can enjoy the
recovery process and feel better faster.
is your chance to have fun with different hair looks. If
you have always wanted to be a gold/wine head
-dye straight away. Get cute and funky headbands,
barrettes/hats as your hair grows out. Wigs can be
fun as well, play with different hairstyles and change
your wig along with your clothes.
Though it is unfortunate, the reality is that some of
your favourite clothes might not fit the same way so
be sure get new ones. You may have gained some
weight from the steroids and treatment but you can
always keep some clothes for when you lose it. Get
out of grumpy clothes and try dressing to impress
Invest in beauty products -It is said that
chemotherapy and radiation age women by
a decade, this is because it destroys healthy
cells and the thin skin around your eyes may
not get the elasticity they once had, giving
you dark circles that make you feel that you
still look sick. Give yourself facials, enjoy
time at a spa and experiment with beauty
products and makeup to give yourself the lift
you need. “If the result makes you feel
better, it’s worth it.”
Whether you are married or single
wear sexy lingerie. Don’t think you’re not a
sexy lady! You may not feel comfortable with
your scars and breasts; but, dressing in
beautiful lingerie will keep you feeling sexy
not just yourself but for your lover too. You
may experience vaginal dryness, so make
sure your lube is always handy. Be ready to
help when your brain is saying ‘yes’ while
your body is saying otherwise. Make it a
point of duty to always enjoy romantic dates
such as candlelight dinner, a picnic on the
beach with a bottle of wine, soft music-all
these can help spark your fire.
Take time to unplug each day to give your
brain a break, you will probably vow to love
the new you, so stay positive.
It is an enormous job loving your body after
breast cancer - a number of articles before now
have already helped in describing what will
happen to your body as you fight breast cancer,
not to mention all the details your doctors would
have spelt out to you immediately you knew your
breasts were going to change.
Try and live a healthy lifestyle- getting healthy
after treatment can make you love your body
again, especially as this can make you feel strong,
help you look good and give you endorphin highs
that will keep you smiling. Exercise can also help
to shake your fatigue, be it chemo-induced or due
to depression. Attend gym and yoga just for cancer
survivors, these classes are led by trainers who
understand specifically your needs.
Play with hair styles while waiting for it to
grow back since losing hair is never easy. So this
Spice up your Bedroom with Colour
bedroom should be designed for rest, relaxation and romance, and choosing
A the right paint colour can help make that happen. For a peaceful and tranquil
bedroom, as an interior designer here are my favourite selection of paint colours
to help you get inspired to make your own bedroom the retreat of your dreams.
If there is one room in your home where you want to feel calm, happy, and
relaxed, it’s the bedroom.
The easiest and affordable way to revamp your bedroom is by painting it a new
colour.
The right paint colour will instantly set the mood for your bedroom. So, start by
thinking about the feel you want your room to convey.
Is it calm and serene? Bright and happy? Pretty and feminine? Tailored and
sophisticated? This will help you determine the perfect paint colour selection.
Dark colours make a bedroom feel cozy. Neutral and muted colours help a space
feel calming, while bright colours boost your mood. On the other hand, cool
colours tend to be more soothing and promote relaxation.
Here are some bedroom paint colour ideas
Blue in varying hues brings calm and serenity. Keeping everything in the same
blue family but of varying hues keeps it more active and fun.
Crisp White is great for a modern, fresh and timeless look. An all-white
bedroom is always an inviting place for sleep, but don’t be afraid to try a little
colour - even if just as an accent wall.
Cream with a yellow undertone is the perfect neutral to provide a warm but not
too dark and cozy feel
Green brings a feel of nature; and always provides the best colour inspiration.
It helps bring the outdoors indoors
Grey and Beige are neutrals that lend a masculine vibe. Try any of these
colours. It delivers warmth without overpowering the room
Try any of these and let me know.
