Style Magazine November 2020 RGBR

In this issue’s Readers’ Choice Awards, we give over 500 businesses a reason to pop a bottle of bubbly. Voted the “Best of 2020” by more than 130,000 locals, each winner—be it a bookstore, brewery, bike shop, restaurant, or real estate agent—is a cornerstone of our community and the crème de la crème in their respective industry. Read about all the prized people and places starting on page 35, and then go and support them! They need your patronage now more than ever. We also share a special “Editor’s Picks” portion where you’ll find some fun, off-the-beaten ballot categories, like “Best Binge-Worthy Show” (no spoilers here, but I highly recommend streaming it stat) and “Best Woman-Owned Business.” If you’re new to the area and happen to be on the hunt for a mental health professional, personal trainer, or other expert, it serves as a perfect place to find a trusted favorite. In need of some new recipes? Turn to Taste on page 52 for 5 simple sides that are easy on the eyes and even easier to make. Submitted by beloved eateries, each dish is guaranteed to have your guests going back for seconds (and maybe even thirds!). There’s plenty more uplifting, articles in the pages that follow—from social media stars who live locally (“Almost Famous,” page 16), to a picture-perfect hike in Pilot Hill (page 32), and a spotlight on area organizations fighting food insecurity (“Hunger Hits Home,” page 20)—so shift your attitude to one of gratitude and see where it takes you. Cheers! — Megan // megan@stylemg.com @meggoeggowaffle

YEARS WON!
We are honored and thrilled to receive the Style Magazine Reader’s
Choice Award for the 10th year in a row as one of the BEST DANCE
STUDIOS in Rocklin, Roseville and Granite Bay and have been voted
#1 nine of the 10 years, including this year! This award came as a
surprise and a blessing because 2020 has been a rollercoaster year of
twists and turns that none of us could have expected, predicted or
prepared for. We began our 17th year in business as we normally have,
educating dancers of all ages and abilities at our 2 locations in Rocklin
and Granite Bay. We were also chosen as an official dance studio
of the Sacramento Kings brand new 916 hip hop crew. Little did we
know what was looming in March. We were forced to shut down both
of our locations for over 6 months due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
We watched helplessly as almost 17 years of blood, sweat and tears
eroded away with nothing we could do about it. We continued to
offer zoom classes, but the great majority of our students ended up
opting out because of the difficulty of learning dance over zoom. In
June we made the extremely painful decision to let go of our larger
Rocklin studio. The numbers just did not make sense, and we later
learned this was a good move since after just 2 weeks of being able
to be open, we were forced to close again. We decided to just keep
our smaller Granite Bay location and we are slowly rebuilding from
the devastation of the COVID lockdowns. As a studio, we cannot
thank our Placer County Board of Directors enough for opening up
our county and allowing us to operate our business again. We are
happy to announce that our tiny but mighty Granite Bay studio is
emerging from the rubble and our dancers are finally able to do
what they love in a safe and nurturing environment. We offer hip
hop, jazz, ballet, tap and lyrical/contemporary for all ages from some
of the best teachers in our area. Our seasoned instructional team
has many years of experience teaching beginners all the way to elite
level dancers that have performed with collegiate level dance teams,
commercial dance jobs in LA, abroad, on cruise ships, Disney and
beyond, as well as NBA and NFL teams. Many of our students have
also gone on to own their own dance studios. We look forward to
rebuilding at our Granite Bay location and hope you or your dancer
will join us! Check out our website at www.danceeliteallstars.com
or call us at 916-660-6093 to schedule a FREE trial class. Dance is
medicine and we all need it more now than ever!
