William Hill Scottish Cup has the promise of yet
more history-making for the Parkhead club.
Neil Lennon’s men will
become the first in the
147-year existence of
the competition to lift the
trophy on four successive
occasions should they
prevail.
No fewer than five sides
have recorded hat-tricks of
victories since the cup was
formed in 1873; Queen’s
Park (1874-1876 and
1880-1882), Vale of Leven
(1877-1879), Rangers
(1934-1936, 1948-1950
and 1962-1964), Aberdeen
(1982-1984) and Celtic
(2017-2019).
The epic achievements that
Scott Brown and his fellow
players have racked up in
the past four years suggest
the enormity of what they
can accomplish won’t be in
the slightest bit intimidating
for them.
They are currently on an
unprecedented 34-game
winning streak in the
League Cup and Scottish
Cup - the last time they
were beaten in a one-off
domestic tie was in the
penalty shoot-out defeat
to their Glasgow rivals
Rangers in the semi-final of
the latter way back in 2016.
There is another unique
quadrilateral that lies
tantalisingly within Celtic’s
grasp as well; they will
complete their fourth
straight domestic treble if
they are successful.
Lennon is confident that,
despite the unusual
circumstances that last
season’s Scottish Cup
will be concluded in the
following campaign
with the focus of so
many being on 10-In-A-
