A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDERS

Biggar & Leith owns and imports a portfolio of fine wines, spirits and fancy goods from

family owned producers who are dedicated to quality, innovation and craftsmanship. We

search the globe for brands whose bottles transmit the personality and stories of the people

who make them.

We are based in the New York area and have a distribution network across the globe. We

take our name from our founder’s great-great-great-great-Grandfather – Thomas Gladstone,

who in 1746 left his home in Biggar, Scotland to establish a spirits merchants in the port of

Leith – near Edinburgh Scotland. The tradition continues.

Beppe trained in enology and distillation at

Alba University. When he is not distilling he

is in the mountains. He has climbed Monviso

a number of times with Carlo Vergnano.

Starlino's recipe was made by Denis Muni and

Beppe Ronco - both have worked at Torino

Distillati for over 20 years and are natives of

the Piedmont Region. Having spent their careers

making Vermouths and Aperitivos, they

focused their attention on real innovation for

The Hotel Starlino Range. They came up

with the idea of ageing the Rosso Vermouth in

Bourbon barrels after observing that the cask

ageing imported a deliciously smooth, spicy

flavor to the wine. For the Rosé and Arancione

– they wanted to create a really fresh and

natural flavor that mixed with tonic, soda,

sparkling wine or was delicious on the rocks.

The aperitivo is one of Italy’s greatest exports – it describes both a delicious drink

and more importantly, a perfect moment for a drink. It is a very special moment of the

day. When the day comes to a close, in the evenings, Italians will walk over to their

local bar or cafe, meet up with friends, and sip on a fairly light cocktail, and have a

little bar snack to go along with that. And the point of this is really winding down,

talking with friends, and enjoying the moment. Something very Italian.

The Hotel Starlino range has been crafted to include everything you need for this

moment – traditional Red Vermouth di Torino, Rosé and Arancione. On top of this, we

have bottled everything you need to make the perfect Aperitivo cocktail - Maraschino

Cherries and Sparkling Rose Moscato.

Starlino Rosso Vermouth is a traditional red Vermouth di Torino aged in

Kentucky Bourbon Barrels for a rich, warm, spicy aroma and flavor.

Delicious in a Negroni or Manhattan or on the rocks.

Each year, millions of Butterflies make the migration from the United States to

Mexico to breed. Hundreds of species of Butterfly inhabit the Agave fields around the

town of Tequila. These “Winged Kings” gave us inspiration for a fresh, new approach

to Tequila.

Instead of the standard “Three Amigos” range strategy taken by all other tequila

brands, we present a differentiated approach – a crisp silver, and two highly mixable

flavors. This range, brings mixability and approachability to the Tequila category.

Rather than yet another “celebrity brand” this brand focuses on preserving this natural

wonder – contributions are made to special projects that aim to preserve the natural

habitat of Butterflies in Mexico for generations to come.

SILVER CRISTALINO TEQUILA 100% AGAVE

7-8 Year old Agave is harvested by hand and baked in traditional steam ovens

before being mashed, fermented and distilled. The Agave distillate is aged in

Barrels for up to 30 days before being charcoal filtered to produce a perfectly

clear Tequila.

– TASTING NOTES –

As its name suggests, this tequila is bright and crystal clear. Because it's

aged, however, it hangs on to the warmer aromas of an añejo Tequila -—

roasted agave, oak and vanilla. It has a delicious, clean flavor – rich but not

overwhelming and not overly vegetal - ending with a smooth and rich finish."

7-8 Year old Agave is harvested by hand and baked in traditional steam ovens

before being mashed, fermented and distilled. Pink grapefruit peel is soaked

in silver tequila and combined with pink grapefruit and grapefruit distillate

and combined with the tequila before filtration and bottling.

A bright summery rose petal color – the aroma is an incredible blend of

grapefruit skin, agave, fresh citrus blossom with a long, refreshing natural

pulpy flavor.

before being mashed, fermented and distilled. Clementine peel, Prickly pear

and natural color extracted from beets are added to the silver tequila before

filtration and bottling.

– TASTING NOTES –

A stunning natural violet blue liquid with a fresh citrus nose from the

Clementine and the prickly pear gives combination of the tastiest tropical and

subtropical fruits, strawberry, watermelon, honeydew melon, fig, and banana

– while all the time the agave shines through. Long, rich and refreshing.

“My business has been in starting up new drinks brands and, as we

know, every good brand needs a good story. I can think of no better

story or figurehead for a Scotch whisky than my ancestor, Mr

Gladstone, and his axes. I think Scotch is a magical drink - and I

have created two blends that I think bring out the best and simplest

expression of what makes it so good. I only use Malt Whiskies; and I

think our two distinct styles – American Oak and The Black Axe –

represent simply the two best styles of Scotch. American Oak is

smooth, spicy, rich, honeyed and easy. The Black Axe is rich, smoky,

spicy and coastal. Both delicious and both entirely different. The

bottles and labels tell that story quite nicely and I hope that as well

as enjoying the contents, you will have a chance to read the labels

and enjoy the details engraved into the glass. When you have finished

with it, I hope that you will keep the bottle as a decanter, candlestick

or collection vessel for your pennies – Mr Gladstone would have

liked the last bit.”

Blended Malt Scotch is a category that is becoming extremely popular with younger

consumers around the world. In many ways, it represents the best of the best – Malt

Whiskies selected from Scotland’s best Single Malt Distilleries – blended together so

the sum is greater than the parts. Our two expressions of The Gladstone Axe –

American Oak and The Black Axe represents two distinct flavor profiles and offer a

delicious, simple introduction to the plethora of flavors that exist in Scotch. Black

Axe is spicy, smoky and rich – but not overpowering like some of the “serious” Islay

Whiskies – and American Oak has a soft, honey, vanilla and spicy profile that makes it

a deliciously drinkable dram.

Scotch was really born in the Victorian Era – and Mr. Gladstone was the most famous

man during that time – he passed the Spirits Act of 1870 which allowed blending of

Scotch for the first time – and resulted in the expansion to what is now Scotland’s

greatest export. He chopped trees for exercise – and his collection of axes still sits in

his study “The Temple of Peace” in his house in Hawarden.
