This comprehensive youth services program provides<br />

individualized attention to troubled youth and <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

families. Services include academic remediation, GED<br />

preparation, behavioral modification, counseling, and<br />

employment training.<br />

setting as an alternative to placement in a<br />

remote facility.<br />

Missouri Day Treatment Program<br />

Type: Intermediate Sanction<br />

Subtype: Day Treatment/Aftercare<br />

Target<br />

Population: Serves as a diversion program <strong>for</strong> lowrisk,<br />

committed youth and as an aftercare<br />

program <strong>for</strong> moderate- and highrisk<br />

committed youth returning to <strong>the</strong><br />

community from residential placement.<br />

This year-round program provides a structured educational<br />

alternative to <strong>the</strong> public school system <strong>for</strong><br />

youth at risk of residential placement. The program<br />

includes academic courses, GED classes, career planning,<br />

job placement, and community service. Youth<br />

receive individual attention.<br />

Pinellas Marine Institute (PMI)<br />

Target<br />

Population: Delinquents ages 15–18<br />

This program provides treatment and aftercare services<br />

to youth adjudicated delinquent by juvenile<br />

courts. It focuses on individualized education and<br />

marine activities such as scuba diving and sailing.<br />

A 12-week aftercare program is provided following<br />

completion of <strong>the</strong> 6-month PMI program.<br />
