Annual Report GCI UICP - ceetb

The GCI-UICP provides a pan-European focus
for heating, ventilation, air conditioning,
plumbing and metal roofing contractors. They
participate in GCI-UICP through 33 national
organisations from 23 European and four
extra-European countries.
While horizontal issues are covered by the
CEETB, the GCI-UICP focuses mainly on
specific political and technical questions
relating to gas, oil and water installations.
Statutory Meetings
General Assembly
The General Assembly was hosted by the
German organisation ZVEH and took place in
Heidelberg on 22 September 06.
The delegates unanimously accepted the
applications for affiliate membership submitted
by MEGSZ (Hungary), SGGiK (Poland),
SVTT (Slovakia) and IATEC (Ukraine). At the
same time, the affiliate membership of SPTZ
(CZ) was transformed into full membership.
The GCI-UICP President emphasised the
importance of integrating the associations
from the new Member States so as to create
a truly European organisation. The delegates
also elected Marcel Engels, the president of
UNETO-VNI (NL), into the GCI-UICP Board.
Board of Administration
The Board of administration met three times
in 2006: 22 February 2005, 30 May 06, 21
September 06.
On 2 March 06, the first joint meeting of the
GCI-UICP Board and the GCI-UICP
Secretaries General took place. This meeting
replaces the former Council of Presidents
and covers topics specific to mechanical
contractors.

Campaigns
Participation in the European
standardisation process
Standardisation has become one of the major
challenges for the trades represented by GCI-
UICP. European standards are no longer
limited to products but increasingly cover
systems and services.
Standardisation under the Energy
Performance of Buildings Directive
The European Commission had mandated
CEN to draft standards relating to the
inspection of boilers / and heating and air
conditioning systems, the calculation of the
energy performance of buildings and the
building performance certificates. All 32
standards have been published for enquiry,
the results of which have already been
processed, so that the final prEN drafts are
now available. Depending on the standard,
the two-month formal voting procedures will
start between December 2006 and April 2007.
The approved standards are expected to be
available between May and September 2007.
