RecordingInformation: Line /Colour /Texture/Pattern
Textileartists approachthe recordingof information in a wide variety of ways,
but the ability to visually recordinformationabout the world aswe see and
experience it, is commonto all.
Over aperiod of 14consecutivedays,useyour sketchbookto makevisual
notes about your surroundings/thoughts/feelings. Tryto show usthe world
from your own unique perspective. Youcan ʻrecordʼ with all kindsof media,
e.g:
• Pencil/pen/graphite
• Fabric& stitch
• Watercolours/ inks
• Collage& mixedmedia
• Patchwork
• Text& imagecombination
• iPad/ drawingapps
• Photography(no holiday snapsor selfies!)
Aimto demonstrate a gooduse of line, colour, texture and pattern in your
work thinkingabout how you couldadapt your ʻvisual notesʼ in to textile
pieces.
Some daysyou mayspendan hour or so creating something detailed (such as
a tonal drawingor stitched embroidery), other daysthe taskmayonly take 5
or 10 minutes. Youshould end up with an excitingvisual diary that gives usan
insightinto 2 weeksin the life of you!
Recommended
