Casual dates are tricky since they mostly happen during that period when you’re
getting to know each other. Going on this date doesn’t have to be extravagant
and borderline uncomfortable. You should have a relaxed outfit, but don’t be too
sloppy. The dilemma of how much effort you should put in starts with what to
wear. If you’re having a hard time finding the right outfit for a casual date, here
are some four outfit ideas to get you started.
INTERVIEW
Wizkid:
Ode to Lagos
Words By - Yemisi Suleiman
Super talented and a regular hitmaker, these are some of the attributes to describe
singer, songwriter, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, also known as Wizkid.
The 30-year-old Lagos born singer with hits after hits has risen to the world stage,
easily becoming the most internationally popular and influential act from Nigeria and
Africa. With successful collaborations with top music stars around the world including;
America’s Drake and Beyonce Knowles, the award-winning singer, continues to infuse his
Lagos roots into all of his music to massive success. Following an initial delay out of respect
for the recent events that happened in Nigeria, Wizkid finally released his muchanticipated
album ‘Made In Lagos, a fifteen tracker album that projects his love for the city.
From his London base, the Ojuelegba crooner talks about his attachment to Lagos,
musical journey, his thoughts on the #EndSARS, Police brutality, family love and more..
You’ve just released your new album,
Made in Lagos. Can you tell me about the
making of this album and writing of the
songs?
Yes, it took me nearly three years to make
this album. I had an incredible time creating it
and it was very personal. Everything
happened organically and I think the album is
a reflection of that, plus who I am today.
Are all the 15 songs influenced by Lagos,
what inspired you to write the songs?
The title of the album really explains itself.
It’s where I come from. Lagos is the place
that birthed me and it’s what made me who I
am today. With this project, I just want to
show people the amazing talent and music
that comes from our people. Music is very
soulful and spiritual to me, so I did my best to
put that into every song.
What does Lagos mean to you and what
do you love most about the city?
Lagos is everything to me. That is my
home. I love the people and the hustle spirit
in people.
The album features contributions from
Burnaboy, Skepta, and a few others, why
did you decide to work with them?
Yes, all the artistes featured make this
project even more special to me. They are all
artistes that I respect, and we all share a
genuine love for music and that is also very
important to me. I appreciate all of them for
blessing me with their time and talent.
This album was originally meant for
release in October, but you had to put
aside to join the #EndSARS protest in
London. What is your view on the
#EndSARS movement, do you think it’s
worth fighting for?
The #EndSARS movement is a beautiful
thing to see, in the sense that our
generation- Nigerian youths are coming
together to make our home country a better
place. That is real love and that is the real
energy that is going to go a long way in
changing things in our country. So, it was
important for me to play my part, and not
release my album at such a sensitive time.
Do you feel that artistes have a
responsibility to be political, especially at
the moment?
We are part of the community too. And it
is our role to show unity with the people.
They are our biggest fans. As an artiste, I
have been blessed to be on a platform like
this because of the people, and that is
something I do not forget easily.
How much does the politics of Nigeria
impact you as an artiste?
It is disheartening.
How did you get started as a musician
and songwriter?
I started in church with a few friends.
Who are your earliest musical
influences?
I grew up listening to a lot of Fela and Bob
Marley songs and that somehow influenced
me and my style of music today.
As an artist, what are some of your
favourite songs that you’ve written?
That is a hard question to answer because I
genuinely like everything.
INTERVIEW
You are always on the go. Do you ever
get your ‘me time’?
I go to the studio everyday, although that
is work, but it is actually like home to me. My
music is very personal to me. I love to make
music, that is what I live to do. So that is
how I spend my ‘me time’. The studio is my
favourite place to be.
Who are your influences in life?
Family, especially my sons, they are very
close to my heart. They keep me grounded
and focused. That is why I do this.
You have worked with some of the
biggest stars in the industry, what was it
like working with Beyonce?
It was a blessing. P2J actually talked me
into doing that song. He wouldn’t let me rest
until it was finished. I love the message of
the song, growing up with my sisters, it’s
important that black women are told often
how important they are. It’s a feel-good
song, I love how it makes people feel,
especially women of color. That’s what
making music is all about to me, it’s the
feeling. So when I work with fellow artists,
I’m not so much concerned about stardom.
I like to connect with them musically or on a
human level.
I’d like to be
remembered as
someone that
made good
music, that made
real music and
shared positive
energy.
You are obviously one of the bestdressed
music stars in Nigeria, what is
fashion for you?
I love Fashion. You can never have
enough clothes. I grew up not having a lot of
clothes, so now I can afford whatever I like. I
shop for no reason. It’s really one of the
ways, apart from music that I get to express
myself. In my videos and my photo shoots,
I’m particular about the pieces I wear. If I go
to a shoot and the clothes are not right or do
not fit the way I need it to, I won’t do it. I do
not care what it’s for. I have to feel good
when I get dressed.
If you were not a musician, what would
you be?
I actually don’t know. Music is literally
what I love to do. I’ve never had any other
passion. I can’t imagine doing anything
else.
What is the best part of being
superstar Wizkid?
I’d say the best part is just being able to
touch people in a positive way, and making
people feel good through my music.
What would you want your fans to
remember you for?
I’d like to be remembered as someone
that made good music, that made real music
and shared positive energy.
What message do you have for your fans
and those that look up to you for
inspiration in life?
I love my fans, forever and ever. They are
one of my biggest blessings! Wizkid FC Love
una die. I’m forever grateful for them.
Styles For Hot Weather
Most spouses are taking precaution to
protect their orgasm as the country
enters a dreadfully hot, heat wave. As a
result, regular scheduled lovemaking
cannot be interrupted.
The way summer is heating up is the same way
one’s libido is also heating. With warmer weather,
comes heat fatigue and sweaty, sticky bodies. It’s
a fact that some persons find the sweaty vibe very
sexy, whereas, others do not.
Listed below are great sex positions to help
you keep cool during this hot sticky season.
DOGGY STYLE
This should actually be number one favourite for
hot weather sex. The style allows you get it in and
get it on in record time especially, as it limits the
amount of physical contact between two partners.
Skin-to-skin contact is fantastic for boosting
oxytocin levels and increasing intimacy. It also
raises your body temperature and this position,
results in the fastest orgasm for men.
What can go wrong here is when you move too
hard and fast with the tempo. Do not feel less
macho to slow it down this summer. However,
slow grinding feels great and keeps the heart rate
low. After all, this is hot weather intercourse, so
keep it cool.
SPOONING
This is a very lazy love making position to rock this
summer with less effort. Simply lie on your sides like
spoons and grind away. Although there is a fair bit of
skin-to-skin with this move, the low energy
expenditure makes up for it and it is particularly
comfortable for pregnant ladies. Try finding your
perfect rhythm together for better outcome, which
PILEDRIVER
Although this position requires a bit of effort for
the penetrator, it means that couples may
need to heat up a little. However, the view
from above certainly makes up for it. Since the
skin-to-skin contact is pretty minimal, this will
help keep the body heat low.
Try not go too deep, too fast, and too hard as
the cervix does not like being smacked by
anything and can be very painful especially
with this heat. Keep the tempo slow and
sensual with this move.
SHOWER SEX
This one is a win for hot season make out.
Keep the water temp cool (but not too cold)
and have it on.
The only issue with this is not using lubricant.
Normally, water can wash away natural
lubrication, so if you must indulge in this, that
means you must use a high-quality silicone
lube or even an oil-based one.
And steer clear from oil-based lubes if you’re
using condoms. It’s vital to always use the
right lube for the position.
THE PALM TREE
This standing oral sex position
can also be done on a tile floor,
or against a fridge (Be sure to
switch it off from the socket). The
receiver stands naked against a
flat surface like a wall; your
backs will be cooling from the
contact of the wall with the giver
on his/her knees in front of him/
her on the floor. You can put a
pillow under your knees. Do not
try to be a super man/woman.
Be sure to stick to these hot
weather- friendly styles as they
will definitely help in keeping you
cool. So, feel free to focus on
being naughty-naughty.
Going too long without washing your sheets can cause a bad smell. To keep the
air fresh, strip your bed and wash the sheets and pillowcases every week.
Freshen the Carpet
Carpet is the most popular choice for bedroom flooring for obvious reasons; it’s
comfortable to walk on, it reduces sound and temperature swings, and it adds
considerable impact to your bedroom’s décor. The downside of carpet, is its
tendency to hold onto bacteria, mold, and. dirt from your feet or the bottom of your
shoes, which can create a bad smell.
Sprinkle baking soda on your carpet, let it sit for at least an hour, then vacuum the
powder away, along with the stink.
4
Your bedroom should smell fresh, clean and well fragranced. If it smells
otherwise, it will affect your wellbeing and romance.
Here are few tips:
Open the Windows
The fastest way to a fresh-smelling room is opening the windows and letting the sunlight
and fresh air in. Ensure you open your bedroom windows each morning. Your bedroom
will smell fresher.
Wash the Bedsheets
Natural Ways To
Make Your Bedroom
Smell Fresh
There’s nothing quite as comfy as clean, soft bedsheets—but those same sheets
absorb a considerable amount of body oils, fluids, and shed skin particles each night.
Keep your bedroom carpets clean by removing your shoes before entering
Diffusers and Candles
Choose the ones that help you sleep, such as lavender, jasmine, vanilla, or
sandalwood and place on your nightstand. Enjoy the fragrance and you sleep and
relax.
BEAUTY
Fluffy Brows
Brows are such a focal point on the face.
Fluffy, natural-looking brows are on trend.
To achieved this, brush the brows up and
make the hairs straight. This brow changes
the face shape and creates a more angled look.
Try it out with a brow-shaping wax that tints
and volumises your brow hairs, and then a
brow pen to fill in any sparse area.
Trends for
The Bold
By - Josephine Agbonkhese
With arguably the most glamorous time of the year upon
us, it’s the perfect time for you to get back into your
makeup-wearing mode; especially if you’re one of those who
haven’t been wearing much makeup this year due to the
compulsory use of 2020’s hottest accessory—the face mask.
Whether you’re attending a social or formal event, the
following makeup trends will help complete your look and
make you feel like things are slightly normal.
Interestingly, they are all about the eyes!
The Ultimate Cat Eye
Cat eyes are an easy and sexy way to play up your eyes
and feel done up. You can go as natural or dramatic.
To nail the trend, start from the end of the eye, pointing
it towards the top of the ears , then glide liner inward.
Whether you are using a felt or brush tip, the more you
press down, the thicker your line is.
Choose a cat eye style that suits your eye shape.
Mega-Watt
Lashes
There’s no better time to
wear long, luscious lashes.
Achieving this is simple: get a
curler and mascara combo.
Try looking down into your
mirror as you curl, placing
the flat side of the curler
curve onto your eyelid and as
close to the root
of your lashes
as possible.
The curl should
start there, not
halfway up the
lash.
Dramatic Eyeshadow
Feeling daring?
Then it’s time to
spot some dramatic
eyeshadow look.
Start by applying
an eyeshadow
base for maximum
pigmentation
before applying
and reapplying
your eyeshadow. Opt for a
bold, intimidating colour,
and carefully blend edges
together if using more than
one colour. If prepping for an
evening event, try adding some
sparkle on your eyelids. Remember to
use a highlighter around the edges of your eyes for
a perfect finishing. Keep the rest of your makeup
look on the simple side.
