Pedestals
Our pedestals can be used with different accessories for higher inclination and sound absorption. Immediate
drainage between and under slabs. Resistant to weather, solvents and acids. Services, drainage, conduits - all
hidden under porcelain tiles. Resistance over 1,500kg. Simple installation. The optional silicone pad offers sound
insulation and slip resistance and is made of elastomer material.
Another optional accessory is the slope regulator. These wedge - shaped discs allow adjustment in inclination at the
base of the pedestal easily and quickly. Several regulators can be coupled together to achieve a level finish where
the substrate is uneven. With each regulator, we can obtain maximum unevenness of 1.5%. For each regulator, the
pedestal is lifted by 3 mm.

Cleaning and Maintenance of
Unglazed Porcelain Tiles
Removing Protective Wax
Coatings
Many porcelain tiles arrive with a protective coat of
transit wax to prevent scratching during transportation.
It is best to clean this off once the tiles have been laid
but before grouting. This is because some unglazed
porcelain tiles can be susceptible to staining by
coloured grouts and wax will not protect the tile from
this.
When using cleaning products on your tiles, be
sure to carry out a patch test first, and follow the
manufacturer’s guidance on the packaging.
To remove the wax you will need a mild abrasive
cleaning product such as Microscrub, which will clean
but not harm the surface of the tiles. Apply this to the
wet tiles and rub with a scrub pad or a rotary machine.
Avoid rubbing too hard or using anything that could
damage the porcelain, especially on polished tiles
which could become dull if scratched. Once you have
managed to get rid of the wax, remove all the residue
from the tiles, including any that is caught in the gaps
between them. Then rinse with clean water. Finally, dry
the floor, either using a wet-vac or a towel.
Sealing
Some of our porcelain ranges need to be sealed. This
should be carried out before grouting to prevent the
grout staining the tiles. Follow the instructions given
by the manufacturer and allow the sealant to dry before
grouting. Once grouted and cleaned, it is a good idea
to reseal the tiles. This will also seal the grout. The
majority of our polished porcelain ranges arrive presealed
from the factory, but they will need resealing at
regular intervals. You can do a simple test by placing
a small amount of water on to the tiles and waiting to
see if it is absorbed by the tile or not. If it is, you need
to reseal the floor.
Cleaning
If you spill anything, remove it promptly. Many
household chemicals, tea, coffee and wine are all acidic
and can etch the porcelain tiles if left unattended.
Clean floor tiles regularly, sweeping or vacuuming
first, then mopping with a mild household cleaner or
one specifically manufactured for use with unglazed
porcelain tiles. Be sure to rinse with clean water at
regular intervals. Once you have finished the process,
dry the tiles off to avoid water spots.
Textured tiles, by their very nature, will require more
effort when cleaning, as you will need to make sure to
remove all foreign residue that might get caught in the
texture.
Shading
Tiles are produced in batches in the same way as
wallpaper, and a degree of shading is inherent in the
manufacturing. Please examine the tiles and make sure
that there is an acceptable blend of shades BEFORE
starting to tile. We will not accept any claims or returns
for shading purposes once the tiles have been fixed to
the wall or floor. We cannot guarantee that subsequent
batches will be exactly the same shade, so please
ensure that you purchase enough tiles for the job.

Technical Information
What is Porcelain?
Porcelain is actually a type of ceramic, the main
characteristics of which are low porosity (absorption
rates of less than 0.5%) and colour that penetrates
the entire body of the tile, rendering it very durable.
Porcelain can be either glazed or unglazed depending
on the desired look and intended use.
Floor Tile PEI Ratings
Grade 1 - Light domestic use - barefoot or soft
footwear, i.e. bathrooms and bedrooms.
Grade 2 - Moderate domestic traffic - tiles suited to
use in the home except in areas where there is direct
access to outside such as hallways and kitchens.
Grade 3 - All domestic use - Suitable for all areas of the
home including kitchens and hallways.
Grade 4 - Tiles suitable for domestic and public use
where moderate to heavy traffic occurs, i.e. Hotel
lobbies, restaurants and supermarkets.
Grade 5 - Tiles suitable for all types of use weather,
domestic or in public areas of heavy traffic.
Ink Jet Printing
The latest tiles are produced using inkjet technology
which can print exact reproductions of natural stone or
wood in very high definition even on tiles with uneven
surfaces, making them difficult to tell apart from the
real thing
Unglazed Porcelain
These tiles are extremely durable and frost proof.
The initial tile is matt in finish. The same tile can then
be either semi or fully polished. Polishing unglazed
porcelain results in a high gloss finish. Unfortunately,
polished porcelains are more susceptible to staining
because dirt gets trapped in the opened surface
pores. Sealants or other pre-surface treatments can
prevent this problem as a routine re-application of the
protective treatment is maintained.
Glazed Porcelain
These tiles have a glaze applied over the porcelain
body and it is therefore the glaze’s hardness that
determines where the tile can be used, in the same
way as normal ceramic tiles. Some glazed porcelain
can be used outside as the body is frost resistant.
Slip Resistance
There are various ways of measuring slip resistance.
Two of the most commonly seen in this country are the
pendulum test and the ramp test. We have used ramp
test ratings throughout the brochure where available.
The dry ramp test measures slip resistance for areas
of wet shoe traffic. The R value is greater in areas of
higher resistance to slipping.
The wet ramp test measures slip resistance for areas
where people will be walking with wet bare feet. It is
