Awards & Achievements<br />
Since opening in 1999, and graduating the first class of seniors in 2002, <strong>Juan</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> students have<br />
excelled in a myriad of academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, and humanitarian efforts.<br />
Academia<br />
• Matriculation - 98% of graduates pursue higher education,<br />
1% enlist in the military, and 1% go directly into the workforce.<br />
84% attend 4-year colleges or universities (32% out of state),<br />
14% attend a 2-year colleges.<br />
• College Scholarships - Graduates receive on average<br />
$36,363 in renewable college scholarships.<br />
• Concurrent College Credits - 58% of seniors earn more<br />
than 680 concurrent college credits annually.<br />
• National Merit - Since 2002, 16 National Merit Scholars, 32<br />
National Merit Semi-Finalists, 2 National Hispanic Scholars,<br />
1 National Merit Corporate Scholar, 50 AP Scholars,18 AP<br />
Scholars with Honors, 18 AP Scholars with Distinction, and 2<br />
Governor’s Academic Achievement Award Honorees have<br />
been named.<br />
• Presidential Scholars - 6 Presidential, 10 Honors at Entrance<br />
and 4 Leadership Scholars have been awarded.<br />
• Academy of Sciences - 4 students graduated with this<br />
distinction in 2012.<br />
• Science Competitions - Earned 1st and 2nd place in three<br />
divisions of 2012 Regional SL Valley Science and Engineering<br />
Fair.<br />
• Debate - Won 3A State Championships in 2009, 2011 and<br />
2012. In 2012, Debate took 139 trophies, and ranked 14th<br />
nationally in Policy.<br />
• Computer Technology - Won top 5 awards in the Annual<br />
State Computer Challenge in 2008, 1st & 2nd Place in Div. I & II<br />
Web Design in 2007, National Champion in Linux Programming<br />
in 2005, 1st & 2nd Place in the State Computer Challenge in<br />
2005.<br />
The Arts<br />
• Visual Art - Selected for 2004 and 2012 Springville Utah <strong>High</strong><br />
<strong>School</strong> Art Show, 5 selected for 2011 Local Colors competition,<br />
and one recipient of the 2004 Governor’s Youth Art Award.<br />
• State Jazz & Percussion Festivals - Qualified 2009-2012.<br />
• State & Solo Ensemble – 40 choir and instrumentalists<br />
qualified, and 17 received superior ratings in 2012.<br />
• Journalism - Earned recognition at Utah State Univ./College<br />
of Eastern Utah Journalism competition for Speaking Eagle online<br />
newspaper.<br />
• Drama - 2A State Champions in ‘01 & ’04, 4 Region<br />
Championships. 10 ranked superior at 2012 State Drama<br />
Festival, won Best Actress at HS Musical Theatre Awards in<br />
2011.<br />
• Yearbook - Won 1st place for 2010 state competition,<br />
recognition for cover design in 2011 national competition<br />
and honorable mention in 2012 international yearbook photo<br />
competition.<br />

More than 76% of <strong>Juan</strong> <strong>Diego</strong>’s students participate on 21<br />
sports teams.<br />
• State Champions - 18 Div. 3A from 2006-2012, 17 Div. 2A<br />
from 1999-2005 (Baseball, Boys Basketball, Football, Golf,<br />
Cross-County, Girls Soccer, Softball, Girls Tennis, Hockey,<br />
Boys Lacrosse, Swimming and Track)<br />
• Region Champions - 72 Div. 2A & 3A from 2002-2012<br />
(Baseball, Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys Lacrosse, Football,<br />
Golf, Hockey, Boys & Girls Soccer, Boys & Girls Tennis, Track,<br />
Volleyball and Wrestling).<br />
• Academic All-State - 46 Athletes, 77 Academic All-Region<br />
• All-State - 133 Athletes<br />

Philanthropy<br />
• Service Hours - 264,369 volunteer hours have been logged by<br />
students, with thousands more contributed through worldwide<br />
mission work.<br />
• Developing Countries - Raised more than $112,000 for<br />
Invisible Children (named a “Legacy <strong>School</strong>”), $25,000 for<br />
Solace Int’l., and $10,700 for other humanitarian organizations.<br />
• Utah Food Bank - Annually collect more than 5,000 lbs. of<br />
non-perishable food for emergency pantries.<br />
• Spirit of Christmas - Annually deliver collected gifts and food<br />
to 30-50 families during the holidays.<br />
• Gift of the Drummer - Annually deliver Christmas gifts and<br />
food over 50 families.<br />
• Cancer Survival -Have raised more than $32,000 for<br />
individuals and organizations coping with cancer.<br />
