Introducing the new Combino Plus
100% low-floor tram.
Every day millions of passengers worldwide travel on Siemens trams, with over 550
Combino 100% low-floor trams operating day and night in 15 cities around the
globe. From the invention of the world’s very first tram in 1881, Siemens has been
researching, developing and evolving tram technology to be state-of-the-art.
Siemens is proud to present the latest evolution in 100% low-floor trams, the
Combino Plus, with improved and advanced features to take passengers to new
levels of accessibility, comfort, and safety.
Combino Plus – fit for Taiwan’s
needs today and into our future.
We’ve evolved the Combino Plus to
operate seamlessly on Taiwan’s growing
network. The Combino Plus
features a separate bogie in each
module which means it will turn
corners with ease. The improved
vehicle configuration reduces the
lateral wheel forces and minimizes
wear and tear on the vehicle, and
the track infrastructure. The modular
design of the Combino Plus gives the
vehicle flexibility to meet Taiwan’s
future transport demands and
expands as the tram network grows.

New levels of comfort
The Combino Plus features an optimized seating layout to provide
passengers with better seating comfort, whilst improved
spaciousness is achieved through the modern interior design
and larger windows. An advanced ventilation system delivers
excellent air distribution and circulation, and separate air conditioning
units are provided for the passengers’ area in all
modules and the driver’s compartment. The Combino Plus is
equipped with advanced passive hydraulic ride stabilization
technology, improving the ride quality of the vehicle. Priority
seating for the elderly and the mobility impaired features its
own hand rests and stop buttons at an easy reach. Large, easyto-read
electronic destination and station displays ensure passengers
are kept continuously well informed throughout their
ride.
Combino Plus – feel at home.
Improved safety features
Passengers can feel safe and at ease on the Combino Plus with
its improved safety features such as the inclusion of more hand
rails, grab bars and stanchions so that standing passengers
have more to hold onto. The Combino Plus features a 100%
low floor which means there are no steps and the likelihood
of falls is reduced. There is less obstruction in the passenger
saloon through a reduced number of articulation joints
(the area that connects each tram module), enabling easier
flow and movement of people across the tram. The Combino
Plus can be equipped with the latest safety technology such
as CCTV and passenger information display systems (PIDS).
The Combino Plus features five wide double doors on each side
of the tram, ensuring more doors and greater accessibility for
the mobility impaired and people with prams, in all modules of
the tram. This also provides passengers with easy and quick
access in and out of the vehicle. As a 100% low-floor tram, the
Combino Plus ensures mobility impaired passengers can safely
and easily travel via tram transport.
Combino Plus –
safe, easy and quick access.
Smoother ride
With its improved vehicle configuration and better bogie
alignment, the Combino Plus delivers exceptional ride quality
and smoothness with minimal lateral acceleration. The
Combino Plus is equipped with impact buffers with an energy
absorption device, as well as advanced passive hydraulic ride
stabilization technology to ensure ride smoothness and comfort
at all times during tram take off, movement and stopping.
Combino Plus –
like you’re flying in the clouds.

Modern, attractive & stylish
We’ve evolved the Combino Plus to build on the success of
the original Combino tram, but designed with more curves
and modern styling. The Combino Plus exudes an identity that
is modern, attractive and stylish – a perfect fit for Taiwan's
modern cities.
Combino Plus –
an eyecatcher for cities in Taiwan.
Environmentally friendly
The Combino Plus is equipped with advanced regenerative
braking technology which enables the tram to return power
back to the overhead lines as it brakes. This leads to lowered
energy consumption compared to other vehicles with conventional
braking systems.
Combino Plus –
In December 2003 the City of Kaohsiung decided to make the
public more aware of the new transport scheme and launched
a very successful three-month trial presenting a LRT system in
a daily operation. A Siemens Combino train was provided and a
450 meter track was built in Kaohsiung's Central Park. The
general public was able to enjoy free rides on the LRT system
and experience the very first runs of a real low floor light rail
system in Taiwan. The LRT system received a very high acceptance
from the general public and convinced everybody with
its comfort, safety and quality.
