Director/Artistic Director-
David Carbone
Mr. David Carbone has over 30 years of experience in music education,
including a 25-year career as a band director at the high school and
collegiate levels in Florida, Ohio, Texas, and South Carolina. Mr.
Carbone holds a Masters Degree in Wind Band Conducting from the
University of South Florida, as well as a Bachelors Degree in Music
Education from the University of Miami (FL). His collegiate teaching
experience includes an appointment as visiting professor and interim
Associate Director of Bands at the University of Texas at Arlington,
where he served as director of the UTA Maverick Marching Band, and
conductor of the University Concert Band and Symphonic Band. In the
spring of 2017, Mr. Carbone was named Associate Conductor of the
OLLI Low Country Concert Band, an affiliate of the University of South
Carolina at Beaufort.

Assistant Conductor-
David Hershey
David Hershey is a former U.S. Army musician who retired
after 24 years of service as a Trumpeter and Music
Production Specialist. During this time he served as Soloist
on national and international tours, as well as Principal
Player, Section Leader, Group Leader, and Music Support
Division Chief. Dave’s assignments were in Kaiserslautern,
Germany; Ground Forces Band in Atlanta, GA; and the U.S.
Military Academy Band at West Point, where he served as
Chief Recording Engineer and Producer for the acclaimed
West Point Bicentennial Commissioning Project. Dave
graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and has
had numerous musical experiences and projects with many
of America’s well-known band leaders.
A member of our Community Band for several years, Dave is
also Music Director of the Lowcountry Jazz Band and
performs with the Evolution Big Band.
