STILL SHINING PROJECT - 2020 FULL CATALOGUE
FOREWORD by Melissa Radman (TAFE Design Alumna 1999) Design Director · Wunderman Thompson As a creative person, there is something in you that ignited way before you decided to study. Perhaps that creativity manifested in many forms, before you were taught by a group of dedicated lecturers, whom would guide you over the next few years. That creative spark was nurtured and it grew, until it was time to try it out in the real world. I remember walking through the very same doors, wondering what skills would fair me well in my future career in design. What I didn’t realise at the time, was how much of yourself is connected to your work. Creativity is a constant. For you to be a good designer, you need to tap into your life experiences and observe the world around you. The more you push outside your comfort zone and the more you are willing to discover, evolve and empathise—the better the work will be. We don’t save lives for a living, but designers can influence and impact how people live. It will require you to be a good person, be a willing participant, to keep learning and above all, to care. 2020 has already thrown enough curveballs and the reset button has been pressed; there is no better time to make a difference. It won’t be easy, but creativity loves a good challenge.
