They do not want torisk their instrument getting damaged in transitbecause they can’t fit it on the plane. This projectlooks at offering a guitar which allows for the play,experience and feel of a full size guitar with thecomfort and compactability of a travel guitar tocreate the most seamless travel experience with aguitar possible.Problem StatementTo currently get a full size guitar on a plane meansyou must pay for extra and oversized baggage. Onceyou are on the plane most musicians then spendthe entire flight anxious and nervous hoping yourguitar is in one piece at the other end after goingthrough all the baggage handling. Current travelguitars lack the build for performance and lack theability for a strong connection with the user. Statement of Purpose and ResearchQuestionsThe aim of this project is to deliver a well craftedinstrument that has all the same capabilities as a fullsize electric guitar and performs just as well. Furtherit is also easy to travel with and removes the hassleof oversized luggage and anxiety over damagedinstruments. The redesigned travel guitar will utilisesimilar design cues as a full size guitar to connect withthe user on an emotional, excitable and passionatelevel. Is it possible to design a full size guitar in away that it can adapt and compact for travel? WithParticular focus on the electronics, the tuning and thestring tension.Research ApproachThere are many limitations that need to be consideredduring the design and development of this projectwith one key factor being the size allowed for carryonbaggage on planes.
