Series V: American Musicological Society
This series consists of material generated through Lowinsky's professional association with the
American Musicological Society. This series is organized into three subseries, with files arranged
alphabetically in each:
Subseries 1: Meetings, documents the society's Annual Meetings, Executive Board meetings,
and meetings of regional chapters. Files span 1957-1980 and include minutes, agendas, reports,
drafts of lectures, abstracts, supplementary handouts, programs, reports and publicity material.
Subseries 2: International Josquin Festival-Conference, consists of material related to the
organization and proceedings of this 1971 event. Materials date from the late 1960s-early 1980s,
but are heavily concentrated in 1971. Much of this subseries consists of correspondence, but
there are also drafts of papers, abstracts, programs, meeting minutes and agendas, financial
documents and travel materials.
Subseries 3: General, spans 1941-1985 and contains newsletters of the AMS, correspondence
on a variety of topics, and newsletters and meeting materials from the Midwest Chapter of the
society.
