OUR COVID-19 RESPONSE

When schools closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic, our team worked rapidly to ensure our

students still received critical resources safely through virtual and socially distanced in-person

delivery of services. From March through August 2020, our staff accomplished the following:

45 CIS program staff

have visited schools to

help distribute meals to

students.

We’re contacting more

than 2,000 students in our

afterschool program 2-3 times

per week to check in and

provide assistance.

19 CIS site coordinators are

conducting SAFE home visits

to ensure students’ wellbeing

& help them stay on track with

their schoolwork.

Our site coordinators have

helped deliver dozens of

laptops to students who could

not pick them up.

CIS staff have been connecting

students in need with our

partners, such as United Way

Full Service Schools, to help

them deal with new stresses and

anxiety from the pandemic.

More than 1,500 students

in our case management

program have been contacted

by CIS staff to check in and

provide assistance.

Over the past two months,

AmeriCorps tutors have

completed more than

1,300 hours of service and

professional development.

We hosted 29 virtual

summer camps, which

offered virtual enrichment

activities, virtual field trips and

virtual college visits.

Weekly virtual team

meetings were held to ensure

the staff was prepared and

felt safe delivering services.

VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING

Since launching our virtual volunteering initiative in April, we have received

143 book reading videos, 8 career guest speaker videos, and 58 activity

videos to help enrich our students’ lives. For more information on how to

participate, visit CISJax.org/volunteer.
