What do shepherd huts, the Olympic rings andLondon’s Westend theatre district all have in common?-An innovative builder named Dicky Deans.Dicky has led an extraordinary life, which started withfixing dents in cars as a welder. But the adventurousside soon took over, and he went to Australia andtravelled for a year. Upon his return to the UK,he was asked if he could weld, and that led to buildingsets for theatre in London’s Westend. He builtsets for ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,’ ‘Hamlet’ andalso made Christmas decorations for Harrods.In 2012 he was lucky enough to be asked to helpbuild the Olympic rings for the 2012 Olympicsheld in London! Dicky is philosophical about allthis however, and just feels he was in the rightplace at the right time to work on thisimportant project.04
