MAJOR AND DEGREE

My major is

broadcast production

and journalism.

I have

always had an

interest in the

media. Hopefully

one day I have a

job in sports media

and reporting,

I have always

wanted to

be in sports media.

In a graphic

design perspective

of sports

media, I think

that it would be

cool to design

sports content

for a team like

posters, logos,

etc. Even though

graphic design

isn’t my main

area of focus,

I think having

some knowledge

of graphic design

will help me

in the future for

getting a job in

sports media.

BROADCAST Production

GRID 103

Prior to taking

graphic design at

Point Park, I had

almost no knowledge

of graphic

design. I never

realized how delicate

cuts and

edges had to be in a

design. I never knew

that you could clip

paths of pictures

and use them in designs.

Before taking

graphic design,

I had no idea of

all the different

Adobe programs

that can be used

to make designs.

This semester I was

taught different

grid structures,

terms used such as

bold, congested,

windy, etc. Throughout

the semester I

learned how to clip

paths and create

different designs

for particular areas

of design.

KNOWLEDGE OF GRAPHIC DESIGN

INFLUENCERS

One graphic designer

who has

influenced me

is Paul Rand. He

has influenced

me because of

his simple ways

with shapes

and images to

create simple

for big companies.

. Another

designer that

influenced me

is Massimo Vignelli,

in which

he used numbers

and letters

combined to

make designs.

The last designer

that has

influenced me is

Alan Fletcher.

He has influenced

me with

he’s unique,

creative, and

colorful ways

with words to

create designs.

TRIANGLES, CIRCLES, AND

SQUARES

This first project

is titled Triangles,

Circles,

and Squares.

This project

was to display

different structures

of graphic

designs of

Order, Increase,

Congested,

Bold, Playful,

and Windy. Each

design was restricted

to our

initials and

only using the

shapes of triangles

circles

and squares.

The next design

is called Page

Layout. The

idea behind this

assignment was

to exhibit the

understanding

of grid structure.

It shows

structure in

ways of which

an item flows in

a certain direction(s)

in the

picture.

The brochure

was a way to

put together

multiple angles

of an item

and show them

as one would

put together a

brochure. With

structure between

a text

and images this

assignment

acts as an ad

for the toy in

the picture.

The photoshop

image a mockup

image of what

it would look

like as a brochure.

JACK AND JILL

The last project

assigned in Grid

103 was a design

called Jack and

Jill. This assignment

is pretty

self-explanatory.

It is designed

to outline the

story of Jack and

Jill. Two figures

represent Jack

and Jill and everything

in the

story; Jack and

Jill went up the

hill, to fetch a

pal of water,

Jack fell down,

and broke his

crown, and Jill

came tumbling

after.
