BHPV SCHOOL
MEGA REUNION
1978-1993 Batches
looking at the timetable as the 4th period was
ending, next period is Library. I cannot wait. This
was the best period in the whole week other
than PE which was also fun. I should go really
quickly to the library as I want to get one of the
Amar Chitra Katha books which were always in
such demand. I checked my bag to see if I
brought the Nancy Drew book to return to the
library. I had it, I am ready. Just then I head my
name called out “Vijayashree” – I looked up
startled, worrying if the teacher noticed me not
paying attention and rummaging through my
bag. Luckily, he called out a couple of other
names of other girls, so I was not in trouble. We
were told to go and meet RamaDevi teacher as
she was putting together a Dance for the
Cultural program that was coming up. I was
happy to be selected but did it have to be during
the library period! As all the selected students
met her, we were told we also needed to learn
the new BHPV school song written by Rita Harish
teacher.
Wow our own BHPV school song!
“We are of the BHPV School
To study and play is the rule
Life here is very inspiring
We work with a spirit untiring…..”
I woke up with a start as the pilot started
announcing “Ladies and Gentlemen, we are
approaching Vizag airport. The outside
temperature is…” I started belting myself in as I
tried to hold onto my sweet dream and my
childhood nostalgia. As I looked out of the
window and started seeing the outline of my
beautiful hometown, I could not help but smile. I
am so excited to be part of the BHPV School
Mega Reunion 2019. We were lucky to grow up
in Vizag and to have such a wonderful childhood
in the safe and fun environment of BHPV
Township. Free to play in so many parks, bicycle
from one end of the township to the other
without a care, get into trouble eating stolen
mangos and guavas, put together Vinayaka
Chavithi stalls, and enjoy movies and dramas in
Kala Bharati. We did indeed have a privileged
upbringing – not filled with money but with pure
innocent joy. BHPV Township and BHPV School
has shaped me and all other students and laid a
foundation for all our success in our professional
and personal lives. Whether we went on to
become teachers or doctors, homemakers or
scientists, lawyers or soldiers, entrepreneurs or
artists each and every student has achieved so
much. As we prepared for the reunion with get
togethers in all parts of the world, connecting
with classmates, seniors, juniors and listening to
their achievements and stories fills me with
pride. Like our school song said
“Our Alma mater we’ll never forget,
And cherish memories so hard to get,
We’ll be a family spread in the World,
And Keep the banner of
our school unfurled”
As my flight lands, I cannot wait to visit the old
haunts of BHPV township, to sit on those old
benches in the school, to meet old friends and
teachers and maybe even get to read an Amar
Chitra Katha.
