Carter, Jr. is a SeniorEvidence Director at ProjectEvident, a national organizationthat harnesses the power of evidenceto improve outcomes forcommunities. He has more than20 years of experience workingwith children and families withlimited resources and influence.He approaches this work withequal parts curiosity, humility,passion and humor, aiming topositively impact the systems andorganizations that work on behalfof vulnerable populations.Carter was previously DeputyDirector and Chief Strategy Officerat the Center on the DevelopingChild at Harvard University,where he led the creation of alearning strategy and built thecapacity of individuals, organizations,and systems to drive andscale innovation on the ground.He earned his master’s degreein Social Work from the Universityof North Carolina at ChapelHill and his Ph.D. in Social Workfrom Boston College. He lives inAshland with his wife Robyn andtheir two children.“The Foundation for MetroWesthas proven over 25 years thatit is committed to supporting theregion’s vulnerable residents andconnecting our community’sneeds with the organizations thatcan help to address them,” Cartersaid. “I have spent my careerpursuing this same mission, and Iam eager to work with the Foundationto provide help and hopeto those who need it the most.”Katherine Garrahan is a Partnerat Bowditch & Dewey, LLP,focusing on helping commercial,nonprofit and institutional clientsaddress land-use, zoning, permitting,acquisition, financing, andleasing matters. Her experiencebridges many sectors, includingschools, clinics, social services,multi-family, and specialty facilities.Garrahan has served on theBoard of Directors for MetroWestLegal Services since 2003 andis currently its President. She isa Past Chair of the MetroWestChamber of Commerce, whereshe also chaired its Public PolicyCommittee for several years,and currently serves as GeneralCounsel. Additionally, Garrahanserves as a Board Member of theAlliance for MetroWest Unityand MetroWest Medical Center.“Having a strong communityfoundation is essential to thesuccess of any region,” Garrahansaid. “The Foundation hashelped MetroWest improve andgrow while ensuring it remainsan inclusive, supportive place forall who call it home. I look forwardto using my skills to help expandopportunity and prosperityfor my neighbors throughout thecommunity.”Margaret Kley has volunteeredon the Board of the NewEngland Tennis and EducationFoundation and has been a volunteertutor in Boston PublicSchools and at the Sportsmen’sTennis and Enrichment Centerin Dorchester, as well as in thetown of Wellesley. She graduatedfrom Princeton University with adegree in chemistry and from theUniversity of Pittsburgh MedicalSchool. Kley and her husbandlive in Wellesley, where they haveraised their two college-agedboys.“MetroWest’s deep-seatedspirit of volunteerism is a keypart of its culture and character,”Kley said. “The Foundation forMetroWest understands how importantcommunity engagementand involvement are to overallquality of life.
