Friends of Racing Welfare

Racing Welfare is a registered charity supporting the workforce of the British

thoroughbred racing and breeding industry.

We offer professional guidance and practical help to the stud, stable and

racecourse staff whose dedication is vital for the wellbeing of racing. Our work

aims to help people, from recruitment to retirement, to thrive in day to day life

and through a range of challenges specific to a career in racing.

“The increasing demand for Racing Welfare’s services demonstrates that the

charity’s role within the British horseracing industry is incredibly important”

Simone Sear

Director of Welfare

Why become a Friend of Racing Welfare?

• £5 a month could help pay for a retired member of racing staff to attend a

coffee morning to meet friends, prevent isolation and combat loneliness.

• £10 a month could pay for three sessions of physiotherapy to help an injured

member of staff back to work.

• £20 a month could pay for six sessions of counselling to benefit a member of

racing staff who is suffering with mental health issues.

• £60 over the course of the year could allow retired beneficiaries like John and

Ann to enjoy a special day trip to the races, the theatre or the seaside.

“On the trip along the Norfolk Broads, the team took care of transporting John

comfortably on and off of the boat, giving me the freedom to enjoy the

surroundings; something that I don’t always get. Nothing was too much trouble

and everyone we came into contact with went above and beyond.”

- John and Ann Crone

“...for every horse which appears on a

racecourse, there is a large group of individuals

that have made it happen. They are not in the

limelight but they are totally dedicated to their

work. When these people face difficulties in

their lives, they need somewhere to turn and

Racing Welfare is there for each and every one

of them.”
