BUILDING SECURITY & ACCESS
Security, people, personal belongings and facilities
are of the utmost importance to us.
To achieve this we have developed a comprehensive
security system. We hope you can understand it
is important for all artists and staff to maintain the
integrity of the Arts Centre.
What is Access Control?
The Security Access Control System (SACS) replaces
normal door locks with electronic ones. These locks
will unlock when an authorised person swipes their
security card to the card reader fitted to the wall next
to the door. To allow entry to back-stage areas via the
lifts and pass-doors, security cards are needed.
How to use the System
The card reader is a small, oval shaped, plastic box,
which has an “S” shaped red light and another small
red light below it. How to use this system:
1 Swipe your security card approximately two
centimetres in front of the reader.
2 Wait for the small red light to change to green.
3 Open the door.
NOTE: If you try to open the door before the light
turns green the door won’t unlock.
To Exit, there will either be a handle which opens the
door without needing a card, or an EXIT BUTTON will
be on the wall next to the door.
How to get a security card
All presenting companies provide a list of cast and
crew requiring access to backstage areas. Your pass
should be waiting for you at Theatres Stage Door on
your first day at the Arts Centre. On completion of
your season, your card needs to be returned to the
Arts Centre’s Stage Door. Presenters are charged for
each card not returned.
What happens if I lose my Security Card?
If you lose your security card please notify the Security
& Safety Department (ext. 8316). This is so that the lost
card can be made invalid. A temporary card can be
signed out from the Theatres Stage Door on level 5.
A replacement card will be issued as soon as possible.
SAFETY & SECURITY / TRANSPORT
What if I leave my card at home?
If you forget your card you can get a temporary
security card from Theatres Stage Door. Temporary
cards need to be returned at the end of the day as
they are deactivated at the end of each day.
Dressing Room Keys
Dressing room keys can be signed out at Theatres
Stage Door, they need to be returned each night
when you leave the Arts Centre. Loss of keys incurs a
significant replacement fee, which is charged to the
Presenter.
Valuables
Please look after your valuables, while we take due
care to ensure a secure environment we can’t accept
responsibility for valuables that are lost or stolen.
Accidents & Incidents
Please report any accident or incident immediately to
your Company Manager or the Arts Centre Security
office at Theatres Stage Door.
Smoking
The Arts Centre is a smoke free environment and
legislation prohibits smoking throughout the venue.
For the comfort and health of others please use the
ashtrays that are provided outside stage door.
