ChapterReportsAbuja ChapterDespite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Abuja Chapter continuesto play a key role in fostering the collaboration between NAPEand government agencies situated in Abuja. It activelysupported discussions with the Petroleum TechnologyDevelopment Fund (PTDF) and on Tuesday 29th of September,Abuja Chapter accompanied the Registrar, Council of NigerianMining Engineers & Geoscientists (COMEG) and hismanagement team on a visit to the Honourable Minister of Statefor Petroleum Resources.Q3-2020 TECHNICAL MEETINGThe Abuja Chapter held a virtual technical meeting on Friday25th of September 2020 on the topic “Development of a pre-riftto post-rift tectonic evolution model for the Bornu basin, frombasement to surface, perspective”. The guest speaker was Dr.Aminu Abdullahi Isyaku of the Department of Geology, AhmaduBello University Zaria and the Committee Chairman, NNPCCentre for Inland Basins Research at Ahmadu Bello UniversityZaria. Dr. Isyaku presented a paradigm shift from a poorunderstanding of the structural style and distribution ofinversion structures, controlled by the presence and orientationof pre-existing structures in addition to the magnitude ofshortening strain to the dynamics of the reverse reactivation ofthe normal fault during inversion, and their impact on petroleumsystem development. The speaker posited that petroleumsystems modelling shows that hydrocarbon maturation andexpulsion in the basin occurs after the formation of inversionrelatedtraps, making these structures potentially attractiveexploration targets in the Bornu Basin and throughout the Westto Central African Rift System (WCARS).Benin ChapterThe largest Chapter, Benin Chapter continues to provide a platform forsharing of technical experiences, best practice, and innovationamongst NAPE members, driving YP/UAP initiatives and promotingNAPE activities and new members entry.The Chapter leadership consists of the following persons:·Chapter Coordinator:·Deputy Coordinator:·General Secretary:·Assistant General Secretary:·Financial Officer:·Public Relations Officer:Edward OzahUgochukwu OgambaIzundu IkpoInemesit UdohDanlami BawaJeffrey JaiyeolaThe Chapter had an eventful year, and in this quarter, it had a virtualtechnical session.Q3-2020 Technical MeetingThe Benin Chapter facilitated a virtual technical meeting via zoom onWednesday 30th September 2020.
