Kindergarten, Sesvetski Kraljevec

Educational buildings nowadays take the role of main public and urban areas in the neighbourhoods

and cities. They are the generators of common public life. The main goal of the project was to

create a place where the children from the village will be able to tell their stories. Each step of the

plot is functionally defined. The narrow communication block stands between the zone with

common spaces and the teaching units. Every unit is self-ufficient and allows the children to design

their own micro world while still being connected to one another.

Motel Trogir 2.0

Extension and

renovation of

cultural heritage - by

architect Ivan Vitic

The project based on the revitalization of a

1965 motel complex reexamines the

potential of a former lively location with

the aim of valorising the wider area. In the

case 2.0, the protected Motel Trogir,

currently a non-place, subtly changes and

builds up its appearance through a kind of

replication, based on fixed decisions to

build and/or not to build. The theme of the

module which inspires the asymmetric

composition, with the facade in bas relief,

creates order based on disorder.

The unstable limits create voids and, at

the same time, define a structure which

can endure the 'vibrations' needed for the

existence and persistence of a truly urban

environment.

Rogoznica development

study and plan

This project deals with further extension

of Rogoznica, Croatia built area and it only

makes sense if a special urban quality will

be made as a contrast to the existing

urban sprawl of holiday houses and tourist

apartment blocks.

New urban structures offer several kinds

of 'products' or investment opportunities,

each providing the most out of location, by

balancing the size of plots and buildings,

urban density and the amount of the

public or common infrastructure and

facilities. This urban plan concept, as a

result of the study, proposes five different

urban structures: seaside villas,

haciendas, townhouses, village houses

and a hotel, forming a combination of

various urban experiences.

Pazar, Split - main food market

The project is located in a privileged place just underneath the walls of the ancient Diocletian

Palace in Split, next to the port and the waterfront. There was finally an opportunity in the

city to reactivate and balance the activities in the historic center which was until now

immersed in the problem of depopulation due to the progressive deterioration of commercial

activity in this area. The main goal was to keep the daily local life on the market while

keeping an representative image for the city.

Set of porches was formed next to the open market under the existing trees. Other porch was

positioned around the Monastery which is also to be rebuilt. The zone with stands was placed

towards the port acting as a filter between a great mass of people passing to the waterfront

and the void for the new market. Visual connections were kept from every angle and existing

pedestrian routes were reactivated. All working places were kept and reorganized forming a

better and polyfunctional local community.

Hill Villas, Klis, Croatia

On the outskirts of the city of Split there was a need in building a neighbourhood from it's very beginning.

Setting the standards for the rest of the 30 villas was one of the goals. Simplicity in form, delight in the

experience, and serenity in appearance are vital for a building to avoid energy- and resource consuming

reconstruction and demolition. The 4-bedroom villas will accommodate tourist during the summer and

families during the rest of the year. The garden outside and the view towards the city is constantly

present. The interiors are subtle yet luxurious.

Medical faculty extension_research laboratory

When the part of the existing medical faculty building became unusable an instant need for

new spaces resulted in a container faculty. The containers serve as classrooms, laboratories

for medical research and offices.

One of the main goals was to make the new building as much energy efficient as possible. A

special collaboration was held between all technicians in order to make best possible use out

of every part of the new wing of the faculty.

A stack of empty containers was put on the southern and western facade in order to keep the

strong sun away. An adaptable space with zero hierarchy was the concept of the design and

it is currently under construction.
