Are you ready to feed your fire?

At a time when uncertainty has upended our lives, we’re turning to passionate pursuits more than

ever. Whatever skill level you are at, the Art Colony is here to help you rethink how you do creativity,

welcome you into an inspiring community of arts learners, and give you tools to sustain your studio

practice day in and day out. We’re here to support your artistic goals and give you space to create

work. Our artistic experts are professors, instructors, and professional artists who have forged this

path and are trained to share, give mentored guidance, and draw out your latent fire.

Three years ago we started exploring the elements of nature as annual themes, first through WATER,

and then HABITAT. We do not think it is by accident that 2021 is the year of FIRE. Fire kindles and

illuminates. It brings warmth and regenerates. It goes from a small spark to a raging heat. It speaks to

inspiration, passion, and the innovative mind. It gathers us to itself and mesmerizes, even as it is a

powerful force. We have all experienced our own ways of being snuffed out in 2020. We want to

re-ignite your passionate pursuits so you can stoke your flame in 2021.

A catalyst for the arts and artists in the Great Lakes Region, this is the work we’ve been about for 74

years, and we think 2021 is going to be the best one yet.

2021 classes are now open for registration on our website. We have worked hard to create solid,

workable safety plans for all of our studios, we are offering a number of virtual and outdoor

options, and we are ready to pivot in-person classes to virtual as needed.

EVENTS

We've spent so much time sheltering in and being isolated. Now, we hope to get out and celebrate our

friendships, our commitment to art, and the artists we love. Our events are artist-activated and

audience-engaged and we look forward to seeing you there!

THE ANNUAL FUND

The Annual Fund is a driving force for the Art Colony. It sustains the innovative programming,

studio access, scholarships, and resources that make this institution exceptional.

Made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a

Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant,

thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and

culture heritage fund.
