Research what you takefor granted and test your assumptions. Asyou gain experience, you’ll learn what tokeep and what to discard.Fitness and nutrition is something of anafterthought among conventionalpractitioners and its no wonder why: mostpatients lack the interest and the will tofollow a proper exercise and nutritionregimen. It doesn’t fit with their experiencewith doctors or expectations of what it takesto correct a health issue. Decades of BigPharma marketing have left the masses withthe impression that if a problem develops,there’s a pill for that. Even among the fitnesscommunity, health is a secondaryconsideration. Most people don’t work out toimprove health, but in order to get hotter orboost athletic performance. Which is a noblegoal — I encourage this — but I know manymen and women who have let themselves goafter marriage, at precisely the worst time:their childbearing years. The quality of yourfitness and nutrition have a major impact onyour fertility, your children’s health, andwhether you’ll be around to see yourgrandchildren. This is one area where I thinkwe’re actually seeing a lot of positivedevelopment. More and more people arecoming to see health as a matter of personalinitiative and not something you just leaveup to the medical system. With betterpatients there will be more demand for gooddoctors, which we are already seeing in theincreased availability of non-surgical, nonpharmaceuticaltherapies and practitioners.The task before us is to grow our movementamong clinicians and the public, and to takeon the entrenched special interests andmedical establishment by mocking,humiliating, and subverting them.
