history, inspire our beach community, welcome and engage visitors and become
a destination of ART for Everyone through murals depicting life in Carolina Beach.

RIP CURRENTS
Rip current signs have been placed at popular public beach accesses and at the
public bathrooms/showers. Please make yourself and your families familiar with
these signs. They could save your life. Always swim near a lifeguard and ask
about conditions before entering the water.
Rip currents are powerful currents of
water moving away from shore. They
can sweep even the strongest
swimmer out to sea. If caught in a rip
current:
• Don’t fight the current.
• Swim out of the current, then to
shore.
• If you can’t escape, float or tread
water.
• If you need help, call or wave for
assistance.
PLEASURE ISLAND PET RULES
CAROLINA BEACH BOARDWALK REGULATIONS:
• Dogs are not allowed on the wooden parts of the boardwalk at any time.
• Dogs are not allowed in the Boardwalk Business District at any time—this
includes sidewalks, walkways, or public property east of Canal Dr. from the
north side of Harper Ave. (Hampton Inn location) up to and including Cape
Fear Blvd. (Gazebo area).
CAROLINA BEACH MUNICIPAL BEACH STRAND REGULATIONS:
• All dogs are required to be on a leash at all times.
• April 1-September 30, dogs are allowed on the beach during restricted hours
before 9:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. Dogs are not allowed on the beach
between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• October 1-March 31,dogs are allowed on the beach during all hours.
• You must have on your person, at all times, a plastic or paper container that can
be used to clean up and contain dog waste until it can be disposed of in an
appropriate container. This container must be produced and shown, upon
request, to anyone authorized to enforce this ordinance.
FREEMAN PARK REGULATIONS
• Dogs are required to be on a leash from April 1-September 30.
• From October 1 to March 31, dogs are allowed off a leash so long as they
remain under voice command and the owner is within a reasonable distance
from the pet.
Violations of these regulations will result in issuance of a $100.00 fine.

KURE BEACH REGULATIONS
• October 1-March 31,dogs are allowed on the beach on a leash or restraint not
to exceed 15 feet long
• April 1-September 30, no dogs are allowed on the beach.
• Dog owners are required to pick up their dog’s waste.
Violations of these regulations will result in issuance of a $150.00 fine.

BEACH STRAND RULES
• Alcohol and glass containers are prohibited at all times.
• The sand dunes are protected under State and Federal statute. We
request that you respect this natural area.
• Driving, overnight camping and open fires are prohibited along the
beach strand within the corporate city limits.
• All personal items and beach equipment that are left unattended on the
public beach overnight will be classified as abandoned property. Items will
be removed and disposed of.
• Emergency lane should be left open along the dune line.
