What is Sunday School like today?<br />
In <strong>East</strong> <strong>Dean</strong> we have “Climbers and<br />
Explorers”. It’s less “school” now, more<br />
like a club, but it’s still all about God and his<br />
son Jesus.<br />
During this time of Covid 19 we certainly<br />
have changed, no more meeting in the<br />
Village hall, pancakes and choccy brioches,<br />
no more swapping of weekly news, bible<br />
stories and games, no more bible crafts with<br />
“show and tell”.<br />
Things have changed. Covid 19 may have<br />
taken us from the Village Hall, but it’s<br />
brought children into the main congregation<br />
on Zoom services, we see our families on<br />
the screen, Snappy the crocodile, Charlie<br />
and Paws and the knitted bible people<br />
join children each week in telling the<br />
bible story, this time enjoyed by the whole<br />
congregation!<br />
This difficult time has brought many<br />
troubles. Parents are under pressure with<br />
home schooling, employment problems<br />
and all the difficulties of relationships in a<br />
time of lockdown. Children feel all these<br />
pressures…<br />
Like all of us, children need to be anchored<br />
in what is real and true, to be anchored in<br />
God’s love. In the bible we read that in God<br />
“We have this hope as a sure and steadfast<br />
anchor of the soul, firm and secure”.<br />
(Hebrews 6:19).<br />
Our children will see many changes in the<br />
world, but God is constant, and children<br />
need to be anchored in Him to weather the<br />
many storms that may come their way.<br />
