6Four Core Programs withMeasurable Outcomes
I. The Hartford CareResponse TeamIn 2004, HCTC partnered with Saint Francis Hospital to form what is nowthe Hartford Care Response Team (HCRT), a hospital-based violenceintervention program (HVIP). It has since intervened and provided careto more than 1,200 victims of violence and their families and loved ones.With research showing victims affected by violence are at higher risk tore-experience violence or be re-injured, the HCRT engages with victimsas soon as allowed — often at bedside rightafter injury, when trauma informed support canbe a powerful force in creating positive futureoutcomes. From this critical “golden moment”on, the response team builds a relationshipwith the victim and family, following bestpractices. Under a 2019 Victims of Crime Act(VOCA) grant, the HCRT has been able tofurther expand offerings, connecting familiesto the physical health, mental health, and wraparound social servicesthat help prevent and reduce crime in our community.Provided care to more than1,200victims of violence and theirfamilies.7
