A Pot in the

Potter’s House

Sis. Siby Yeswin

Cranbourne

It was a long room, dark and wet,

Along with many pots where I was kept.

There were many pots the potter had made,

And along with me they all stayed.

One by one they saw the outside world,

Few of them left as gifts but many, they were sold.

Days went by so did years,

All my fellow pots left with no tears.

They were going to their new home,

But I stayed there for years in that dark room.

I often looked at myself and I thought,

Why am I still here when I looked better than the lot?

Every dawn came with a new hope or two,

That I would have a new home too.

Every foot that I saw raised my eyebrows,

But they left leaving me to my sorrows.

I wondered if I was worthless,

Wasn’t there someone who could buy me for less?

Every day the potter would come and look at me,

And in His eyes sadness and tears would I see.

What is that made the potter cry?

Was I the reason? Since no one wanted to buy?

I felt like a waste occupying that corner.

This made me feel weak rather than feeling stronger.

Then one day, came a man – tall and bold,

And asked the potter, at what price would I be sold?

The potter firmly told my worth,

At that moment that room felt like a hearth.

I have never heard the potter being so stern,

He turned back and looked at me with concern.

The tall man looked at me as if he was disappointed,

Asked the potter why I was so expensive, with his fingers to

me pointed.

The potter said that I was one of a kind,

In the entire world, one which was tough to find.

While he was telling this his face gleamed with pride,

Tears filled his eyes which he tried to hide.

He told I was made as his masterpiece,

At this the Potter took hold of me on his knees.

He told that I was made after he had once sold all that he had,

The tall man paid my worth and looked glad.

I knew I was going to a new home,

I didn’t know if it was going to be a mansion or a dome.

The Potter was glad that I got a worthy master,

I felt thankful for having him as my Potter.

One who moulded me and did his best,

And toiled upon me without rest.

In future, I might have many masters,

But the potter would be the one, in my memory I would foster.

PRAISING

OUR GOD

Sis. Elizabeth Thomas

Sydney

et everything that has breath,

‘LPraise the Lord. Praise the Lord.’

Psalms 150: 6.

We always hear this “Praise the Lord”.

People explain this in different situation,

Most of the time believers greet

each other with a Praise the Lord. It is

easy for anyone to say Praise the Lord

in joyful occasions such as birth of a

new born baby, getting good academic

results, achieving jobs, when a person

accept Jesus as their personal saviour

etc. But there are others who praise God

even in great crisis situations filled with

overwhelming sorrow and loss. To see

someone Praise God while dealing with

the news of a lost job or even death of

close friends or loved one impressive.

We have this example in Job 1:21. He

said ‘naked I came from my mother

womb and naked I will depart. The lord

gave and the lord has taken away, May

the name of the Lord be praised’. So,

what is this “Praise” and why we are

to offer it to God?

Praise is defined as ‘to express approval,

admiration, commendation, the

offering of grateful homage in words of

song as an act of worship or a hymn of

praise to God’.

When we praise some one, we evidently

show how much we approve

or value that person or act he did, we

proclaim our admiration or worth. We

are encouraged in the above-mentioned

verse and many other verses in the

Bible to celebrate, worship and admire

our heavenly father.

We praise God for who he is. He is the

one and only true living God John 17:3.

He is unique and special. There is no

one else like our God Isaiah 44: 6 says

“Thus says the Lord of hosts, I am the

First and I am the Last, Besides me there

is no God. Our God is the only being

who is self-existent, having no beginning

or end. Exodus 3: 13-15, Psalms

102: 25-27. Our God is almighty and all

powerful along with being loving, wise,

righteous, good, merciful, and perfect

Ps. 118:1-4, 119:68, 137, Jeremiah 9:

24, 32:17-19, 1 John 4:8.

He is the creator of everything in the

universe, nothing exists without him.

Ps. 148 :5 says Let them praise the

name of the Lord for He commanded

and they were created.

We praise God for all what he has

done for us in the past and continue

to do for us today and forever. He is

not only the creator of the world, he is

also our creator who created as in his

own image and likeness. Every person

ever lived owes their life to Him. We

certainly did not create ourselves Ps.

100:3. We have to remember always

that everything we have is a gift from

our God. We are mere human unable to

do anything. Apostle Paul clearly says

in his sermon to the men of Athens in

Acts 17:22- 28. It is very important for

us to praise God for His wonderful love

mercy and grace in providing us a way

of salvation from our sins and restoration

of our relationship with God through

the sacrifice of his only begotten son

Jesus Christ, Eph 1:3-7.

As His children we have both the privilege

and obligation to praise our heavenly

Father. Praising God is something

we must do with our fellow believers

as we gather for worship.Ps. 22: 22

Psalmist David declares I will declare

your name to my brother in the midst

of the assembly I will praise you. We

must praise God through our songs,

prayers and teachings. We cannot limit

our praises to just our times of worship

services. It must be our habit and practice

to praise God always. In Heb.13:15

we are told “Let us continually offer the

sacrifice of praise to God that is the

the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his

name. 1Thess. 5:17 says give thanks

to Him in all circumstances for this is

God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. When

we praise God we are doing the will of

God that places Him.

When we are sad or facing some crisis

sit back alone in our closet try to recollect

the past days when God enabled

us to overcome those situations, our

heart will be filled with thanks giving to

our Lord. Our adoration and love to our

father will increase in our heart and our

lips and whole being will praise God.

As we continue to praise our Almighty

Father our sorrows will be departing

and peaceful comfort from God will

fill our heart and give us the courage

to face our problems confidently. His

presence will bring joy and peace to

our heart that leads us to worship our

God and we come to the understanding

that our troubles are not existing anymore.

This is how we can transfer our

burdens into the hands of our creator

God. Psalms. 55:22 says - Cast your

cares on the Lord and He will sustain

you He will never let the righteous be

shaken. This is my personal experience

and I strongly believe that it is true with

all the children of God.

Let us like David who understood the

importance of praising God “O God you

are my God early will I seek you, my

soul thirst for you, my flesh longs for you

in a dry and thirsty land where there is

no water. Because your love is better

than life my lips will glorify you. I will

praise you as long as I live and in your

name I will lift up my hands. I will be

fully satisfied as with the richest food

with singing lips my mouth will praise

You. Psalms. 63:1,3-5.

So let us offer praise offering as a sacrifice

to our creator and sustainer God

Almighty “He deserves our Praises”

Turning Adversities to Opportunity to Love and Serve:

STORY OF

DEEPTI

SPECIAL SCHOOL

The story of Deepti Special

School stems out of the birth

of Jyothish , our youngest son,

who was born with a condition

known as Cerebral Palsy, that is

an impairment in the brain which

affects his muscular development

and growth. Though God gave

him as a fulfillment of his promise

to us, initially we found it very

difficult to come to terms with his

disability. He had gone through

a lot of sufferings and pain. He

had undergone four surgeries. But

God gave his grace to our child

and us to face those challenging

situations.

We began to experience God's

comfort as the scripture says,

'Blessed be the God and Father

of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father

of mercies and the God of

Dr. Susan Mathew

all comforts, who comforts us in

all our affliction, so that we may

be able to comfort those who are

in any affliction with the comfort

with which we ourselves are comforted

by God. (2 Cor 1: 3, 4)'.

God also taught us through this

experience that he wanted us to

comfort others who face similar

situations like ours. The challenges

and hardships we have been

facing in bringing up our child

who has special needs prompted

us to think of children in similar

conditions and their parents, so

as to reach out them with love to

care and encourage them out of

our experience.

Thus Deepti Centre for Children

with Cerebral Palsy was birthed

on 19th August 2009 to care and

support children with special

needs and their families. In the

following year, God enabled us

to start Deepti Special School,

to address the educational needs

of these children. Now we have

more than 150 children with various

challenges such as Cerebral

Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism,

Intellectually Challenged and

Visually challenged situations.

We provide them special education

along with special services

like physiotherapy, speech therapy,

occupational therapy, counselling

and training in sports,

creative arts and music. Early

intervention for children below

five years, vocational training

for young adults above eighteen

years are also part of Deepti. We

also provide support, guidance

and vocational training for parents.

Through Deepti, we would

like to spread the light of love of

God to the weak, vulnerable and

rejected in the society. We serve

the children with special needs

and their families, because God

gave us the privilege of being the

parents of a differently-abled son.

We thank God for his wonderful

works in their lives. Deepti, more

than an institution, is a family. It

is a collaborative journey to reach God-given destiny, by turning adversities

into opportunities, to love and care, support and strengthen,

to enlighten and empower the less privileged but very precious lives.

The struggles we pass through may give us vision in different ways.

We have a vision of ourselves, of others and of Christ/God. In our vision

of ourselves, which is the ground in which we prepare ourselves

and make decisions that can impact the life of many around us. Affliction

leads to enabling: ‘that we may be able to comfort those who are

in any affliction' (1:4). Therefore, trials or sufferings are not to impair

us but to empower us so that me may comfort and bless others. We not

only follow Jesus Christ in the paths of sufferings, we also become

channels of comfort for others.

ICPF 2020

ICPF Awake 2020 was held on February 29,

2020 in Rivertown Baptist Church in Perth, WA.

The theme for the event was Rise to Reign and

Redeem ( Isaiah 52:1-2, 2 Tim 2: 11-13; Luke

29:10)

“RISE from Sin, REIGN with Christ, REDEEM

the lost”

The worship was led by the ICPF Choir. We also

had guest speakers Dr.D Joshua (Vice President

- ICPF India) along with Pastor Kane Bayer -

(Youth Pastor - Victory Life)

We could gather all the parents and youth from

different churches in Perth. We had a turn out of

approximately 200 + people at the event. Dr D

Joshua challenged the parents to commit themselves

for ministry and about 20 parents committed

for part time ministry. At the altar call held

by Pastor Kane Bayer approximately 25 youths

committed their life to Christ.

A lot of prayer went along with the preparation

for this event as each core member committed

to pray for the event and we could feel the result

of this endeavour on the day as the Holy Spirit

was in control. We truly felt God’s presence in

all this.

ICPF Perth planning to conduct youth camp

2021 from April 5th, 2021 and 6th 2021. We

request everyone’s prayer for the youth of this

nation so that they will be true witnesses in the

schools and Universities.

TRANSFORMATION

Finny Thomas

Kottarakkara

The prime reason I chose ‘transformation’

as the title is that it is

not just an indicator of change but

the word transformation, more specifically,

suggests a process which

results in something new. With this

article I would be focusing on the

transformation in a person’s life as a

believer.

Taking an example of transformation

from The Bible, the Old Testament

speaks of a law ‘An eye for an eye’

in quite an evident manner. However,

in the New Testament Jesus could

not emphasize more on the aspect

of love and loving each other. Jesus

stated it very clearly through his

teachings such as “Love thy neighbor

as thyself” (Mark 12:31). The Bible

contains a whole lot of stories of

transformation such as Moses being

one of the oppressors transforming

into the leader of the oppressed.

Similar is the story of Apostle Paul,

who was a man with great authority

and a warrior against God, but then

transformed into a warrior for God.

Transformation is applicable in our

daily lives as well. Our reactions,

words and actions should be in alignment

with The Word of God and

must be quite different from that

of any other person. I wonder how

we would react to situations such as

dealing with a seller demanding a

much higher price for commodities

or loan to a friend turning into bad

debt. These surely are some very

common incidents from our daily

lives and it is easy to loose temper in

such situations.

Now taking such a scenario into a

believer’s perspective, Jesus has

set the standards really high for tolerance

and not sinning. It is quite

amazing to see that Jesus never

cursed his betrayer Judas. I cannot

imagine the time and effort Jesus

might have put into mentoring and

teaching Judas as a disciple and

when betrayed by the same person,

did not show a hint of anger towards

Judas. Another incident that showed

Jesus in his pure and Godly character

is when Jesus prayed for his oppressors

on the cross.

Transformation is not an easy process,

and having seen how Jesus

dealt with situations in his lifetime

on Earth, it is even more difficult

to transform and be just like Jesus.

How could someone transform and

live a life without sin, especially in

the current world situation? Well, I

have good news for you. The transformation

has already happened. All

it needs is to realize the truth as it is

said in The Bible, ‘truth shall set you

free’. We are free in literal terms,

free and transformed. It is just a

matter of seeing this world and living

life with this transformed mind. I

do not expect this article to be your

new revelation, but I guess it would

be more like an unsaid truth. Everyone

knows it, but no one talks about

it.

When Jesus was slain on the cross

and his blood shed for the cleansing

of our sins, we were transformed.

Any sin after this transformation in

literal sense is a deliberately committed

sin. The day one accepts the

truth that Christ is their savior, and

that He is The Son of God who came

down on earth in human form, lived,

ministered, and was crucified for the

reason of cleansing you and I from

our sins, he/she has transformed

and are therefore, without sin.

Hence, sin is not a part of you but

rather an option.

I would like you to ask yourself this

question today, have you accepted

Christ as your savior? Are you transformed?

The day you have a ‘Yes’

for both these questions, you would

be the most blessed individual on

Earth.

It is an uncertain time we tread upon now,

Peoples lost, families grieving, with cries piercing loud,

Echoes of bottled prayer, unsure what to say,

Sis Joanna Jomon

Vellore

A ticking timer, counting their last days.

Where is joy in this time of sorrow?

Where is assurance that there’s a tomorrow?

When can we be free and breath in the air?

Why should it matter if I just don’t care?

Question arise, every waking minute a mystery.

You say dear God, please save us from this misery,

I see no hope in the adversity,

Feels like I’m living my life accursedly.

Friend, here is one thing I learned in my solitude,

It is the heart full of praise and gratitude.

It ain’t going to do much to make the world better, that’s true,

But a better world starts with a better you.

Right now we raise our hands towards all doctors and nurse,

Who work in the frontline, for better or for worse.

Our lives and our trust, we place in their hands,

They are the synonym of compassion and patience,

(See what I did there? Doctors have patients).

They aren’t your regular soldiers; they are the human body’s warden,

Their weapon is a scalpel and their enemy a misbehaving organ.

You have been a constant force from our birth,

Yor have been with our dismays, and our mirth

You are the perfect gift from God to this earth

No man can put a price on your worth

I bless all of you from 2Corinthians 9:8-10,

Your reward is secure in the eyes of heaven,

In these unprecedented time, when the world seems grey and bleak,

God is using each and every one of you to give strength to the weak.

God Bless your work, God bless your house

God bless your children, and your spouse

May His grace be with all endeavors you undertake,

And His Glory shine upon you each daybreak.

We thank you from our hearts for the struggles you’ve been through

We thank you for your patience for keeping up with our long queue…

You are a blessing to all the lives you, with our Father’s help, renew

Our prayers are with you always, and so we all say, Thank you!
