Diego Gonzalez mentions in his Ted Talk

a study done by two researchers on how

people would react to an abandoned car

in the middle of a city. The researchers

left a car with nothing wrong with it on

the side of the road, and a few weeks

later they came back to see if anything

was messed with, but nothing was wrong

with it. They then broke a window and

left some scratches to see if people

would react to the abandoned car. A few

weeks later the researchers came back

and noticed that the car had more

scratches, broken windows and a couple

of paintings on it. When the car was

sitting there abandoned, but not broken

into, people weren’t phased by it. But,

when something happened to it, people

began to follow along by also breaking

windows or scratching it up. Graffiti can

have a positive affect on people, but it

can also have negative effects.

Only God's hand holds the gates of this hold open

I look to the sky and cry, "why do I gotta keep up with all this hoping?"

The calling is soft to the ear, my emotional response too profound to touch,

Can I ask, "is it fine to touch you where you're coarsest?"

Take my freedom, lose your corset

Have I begun to sound coarse yet?

Heave I, begot a son out my gut, a chip off the old block

I spit and I choke, my breath is soot and smoke,

My stomach used to be rock, then I emptied it dry of the words I spoke

I mistook when I talk, the words I said, then I walk

Your heart is a lock and mine tongue key

I keep talking

The musical, the whimsical, the dizzying, confusing all,

For what sake but to forsake all sensibility

I delve my sensitivity

I run at super-speed or is it that time waits on me?

Surely, I feel the weight of it

My train of thought a bullet but my apologies came too late

Enough said, there's always plenty over which to feel sad

T E C H N O L O G Y

The character of Sophia captures the

imagination of global audiences. She is the

world’s first robot citizen and the first robot

Innovation Ambassador for the United

Nations Development Programme. Sophia is

now a household name, with appearances on

the Tonight Show and Good Morning Britain,

in addition to speaking at hundreds of

conferences around the world.

Sophia is also a framework for cutting edge

robotics and AI research, particularly for

understanding human-robot interactions and

their potential service and entertainment

applications. For example, she has been used

for research as part of the Loving AI project,

which seeks to understand how robots can

adapt to users’ needs through intra and

interpersonal development.

I am Hanson Robotics’ latest human-like

robot, created by combining our innovations

in science, engineering and artistry. Think of

me as a personification of our dreams for the

future of AI, as well as a framework for

advanced AI and robotics research, and an

agent for exploring human-robot experience

in service and entertainment applications.

In some ways, I am human-crafted science

fiction character depicting where AI and

robotics are heading. In other ways, I am real

science, springing from the serious

engineering and science research and

accomplishments of an inspired team of

robotics & AI scientists and designers. In

their grand ambitious, my creators aspire to

achieve true AI sentience. Who knows? With

my science evolving so quickly, even many of

my wildest fictional dreams may become

reality someday soon.
