No fishing licence is required for<br />

recreational fishing in Queensland<br />

waters. All vessels powered by a<br />

motor of more than 6 HP must be<br />

registered and operated by a licenced<br />

driver. Vessels have minimum safety<br />

equipment requirements, vessel<br />

operators should check the<br />

requirements before venturing out.<br />

Vessel operators should also log on<br />

with the local Coast Guard advising of<br />

the destination and time of return.<br />

In Queensland there are a number<br />

of areas closed to taking some fish,<br />

all fish or the use of certain fishing<br />

apparatus. These closures can vary<br />

each year and are subject to change.<br />
