HSDA Dean
Statement
Hekma School of Design and Architecture (HSDA) at Dar Al-Hekma University
(DAHU) is committed to provide excellence in education, by linking and filling the gap
between the education, and the need of the market and by preparing students for a
diverse set of careers in both professional and academic fields following the public
investment fund (PIF) vision launched by Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, which is
enabling the creation of new sectors and opportunities that will shape the future global
economy, while driving the economic transformation of Saudi Arabia. At HSDA, where
creativity and design teaching and learning take place, we prepare our students for
a diverse set of careers in both professional and academic fields to be part of the
realization of the Saudi Vision 2030.
Every semester, we close a teaching cycle and start a new one. We close by
celebrating the graduating batch along with the total number of design graduates
“including myself”, where they take DAHU design and creativity foundation and apply it
to improve the quality of lives of others. Our alumni have made significant contributions
to the quality and character of the design environment and life style. Simultaneously,
we welcome new students to our school. This creates a wonderful chance for us to not
only take stock of our accomplishments, but also to continuously define our priorities
for the academic year and the state of our school, and determine what we can do even
better.
I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate and thank every single one of
our team (Chairs, Faculty & Staff) for the hard work that they put during every academic
semester especially this one, given the pandemic challenges with the virtual learning
and maintaining the high quality of teaching. I would also like to thank our students,
products and future ambassadors of our profession. Because of them and their art of
giving, all of our designers and architects are presenting themselves as professionals,
with confidence, pride and positivity toward their future. This catalogue and exhibition
website, highlight all of the Fall curriculum and extra curriculum achievements, enjoy.
To our graduates: Your journey through the past semesters demonstrates your
understanding that ultimate design and architecture is not only about objects, people,
and ideas but also about a cause, a goal and a commitment. You, as a designer and as
an architect have a responsibility towards society, our community, and our country to
play your part – and it is an important one – in projecting to the world at large, who and
what you, your society, your community, and your country is all about, by drawing on
the richness of culture and projecting that into the spheres of the universe. On behalf
of our team: Thank you for working so hard, making us all proud and mostly enjoying
what we are so passionate about which is “teaching you.” We applaud you for reaching
this important milestone, congratulations.
With a firm commitment to the need of the market, and social & environmental
responsibility, the Hekma School of Design & Architecture strives to graduate
professionals and entrepreneurs equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge,
who effectively contribute to the enhancement of the human environment by considering
function, health, safety, and welfare to produce sensible and creative designs.
To our current students, designers and architects in the making: work smart,
enjoy your achievements and remember, aspire and then for sure you will inspire.
Hats off,
Alaa Zaher G. Al-Ban, PhD

Chair Statement
The Visual Communication Department at Dar AlHekma University aims to graduate
women who contribute to the field of visual communication, express positive values, and
capable of advancing themselves academically and professionally. There is nothing more
rewarding than seeing our 673 graduates as impressive leaders and contributors in the visual
design field.
On behalf of Dar AlHekma Visual Communication Department team, it gives us great
pleasure to showcase the projects of our Graphics Design and Motion Graphics students
throughout their educational journey on the Fall 20-21. This year, the department has shown
passion and determination; both students and faculty alike delivered exceptional performance
while staying positive through challenges times, even seeing the opportunities in them.
To show pride in our students, for the first time, Dar Al Hekma School of Design and Architecture
is showcasing projects from all four departments together in our beloved university campus
which will be displayed for the entire semester. The global pandemic helped us appreciate the
blessing of being with one another in one place with a common goal.
For our beloved 48 graduates, our future ambassadors, congratulations, we are
proud of you! For our visitors, we welcome you to our Fall 20-21 exhibition and thank you for
celebrating this achievement with us.
