Stepping Out for NWAA
A keen walker has pledged
to raise funds for the North
West Air Ambulance by
completing 80 North West
walking routes.
The popular Jack’s Tracks
walks have been published
in Local Life magazine for the
past ten years and Michelle
Bradshaw, the owner of
Wrinkles Out Ironing Service
in Wigan, has pledged to do
the entire set of walks by the
end of October 2021.
Local Life met with Michelle
Bradshaw, along with
husband Dave, at Orrell
Water Park where she was
introduced to Jack, the
Border Collie who inspired our series of walks, Jack’s
Tracks.
And as you can see from the newspaper clipping, it’s not
the first time that Michelle Bradshaw, who is originally
from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, has pulled on her
walking boots to raise money for charity. In 1968, aged
just 3½, she once walked 19 miles with her dad to raise
money for the homeless.
The efforts of the emergency
services during the pandemic
have been the inspiration
behind Michelle’s decision to
take on the challenge, as she
explains, “All the emergency
services have been amazing
during the past year, but
because the North West
Air Ambulance receives no
central funding, I decided to
try and raise £500 for them”.
Jennifer Berry, the Regional
Fundraiser for NWAA
applauded Michelle’s efforts,
“We are delighted that
Michelle and others like her
take on challenges to raise
money for us here at North
West Air Ambulance Charity. It is thanks to supporters
like this that we are able to raise the £9.5 million we need
each year to operate our life-saving service.
We wish Michelle the best of luck and hope that she has
inspired other Local Life readers to take on challenges
for us! For more information about North West Air
Ambulance, please visit our website www.nwaa.net.”
Michelle aims to do two or three walks a week,
accompanied by various members of her immediate
family as and when restrictions ease.
She admits that there is another motive to take on the
walking challenge, “I really do want to get fit. I’ve recently
lost some weight with Slimming World and I would like to
lose some more and get toned up.”
