Mandrake in the Bible

Mandrake a Hallucinogenic & aphrodisiac herb, which is referred to twice throughout the Bible (Add

reference both)(7). It is initially referred to in the book of Genesis:

Bible. Song of Songs: Chapter 7, 12 to 13.

Song of Songs is often considered as one of the most sensual texts of the Bible, in which Mandrake is

used for its aphrodisiac properties. (Add reference). Song of Songs has its origins in older pagan

religion; ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia which possibly date back to two or three thousand years

earlier than the bible. These songs where about the love affairs of the Gods. (Add reference). In the

Old Testament, the Bible demands and says there is only one God. In Hebrew Bible, the Official

version of Israelite religion, the only one God is male. How then in the Bible, could the one God have

a love affair, if there was only one God?

Mother Goddess to a time long before even ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. (Add reference).

Ancient Israelite religion, there was the great mother Goddess, “Asherah.” (Add reference). The

Asherah Goddess go back to Canaanite times before the Israelites. (Add reference). The Israelites

Goddess was, “YHWH” pronounced, “Yahweh”, Wife. (Add reference). “YHWH” is the God of the

Bible. Asherah was later condemned and then gradually forgotten. (Add reference).

Bible. Genesis: Chapter 30, 14 to 16.

The first acknowledgement of Mandrake occurs in Genesis, the first book of the Bible, which is

indicative that mandrake was used within pagan Canaanite culture, before the people of Bible

settled in what was once Canaan, the promise land, modern day Israel. Within this passage

Mandrake was used an aphrodisiac. (Add reference).

Genesis is the first book of the Bible, which means that mandrake was being used in the pagan

Canaanite culture, before the people of Bible settled in what was once Canaan, the promise land,

modern day Israel.

Mandrake and other psychoactive herbal drugs can open the doorway between the world living and

world of the dead.

The references in the Bible of Mandrake shows that the people of the Bible where aware of

Mandrake and its effects. The drug was definitely used in medicine for pain and sedation, and it

visionary effect would have been well known. Drugs in ancient Societies where seen as less

interesting topic, in contrasts to today’s culture, so not being commented in the Bible as much and

other historical sources, could be the reason for the lack of description in those time. Texts in Bible

tell many stories of visionary experiences so the uses of hallucinogenic drugs like Mandrake, could

be a reason behind them.

The Mandrake native only to the region Levant, specify from southern Syria to Israel is Mandragora

autumnalis. (Add reference)(1). Damascus is located in south-western Syria. (Add reference)(2).

Paul according to the Bible was said to be on the road to Damascus, at the time of his Vision. (Add

reference)(7). Mandragora autumnalis is very similar to Mandragora officinarum, in fact so similar

they are debated by herbiest where they are separate species; they are however both Mandrake.

(Add reference)(8)(9).

Psychoactive Drugs in the ancient times

Psychoactive Drugs throughout the ancient world, were being used, in medicine, such as in the uses

for pain; opium, deadly nightshade & mandrake. 22-34 (Add reference). Alcohol for pleasure, in most

common form in Roman world in Wine and Beer as well in other cultures. 22-34 (Add reference). Blue

lotus Nymphaea caerulea, soaking in wine was used in ancient Egyptian for recreational uses as well

as an aphrodisiac. 22-34 (Add reference). Pagan cultures then, were certainly using Hallucinogenic

Drugs for Spiritual uses; Blue lotus Nymphaea caerulea & fly agaric Amanita muscaria and or Soma.

22-34 (Add reference). One example in the Oracle of Apollo, at the temple of Delphi, in ancient Greek

times, the uses of a Hallucinogenic fumes to induce a Trans, has been well established by scientists

and historians. 18-19 25 (Add reference).

Summary of Paul the Apostle

He was a roman citizen by the name of Saul, and had being working with the Jews’ and Romans’, to

stamp out, the followers of Jesus; an angry man it says. Then on the Road to Damascus he has a

vision of the resurrected Jesus, a mighty light from heavens and blinded for three days. He was

then, as he could not see led into Damascus by hand. He didn’t eat or drink for these days. (Add

reference)(7). He then changes from persecutor to devout preacher & loyal follower of Jesus

movement. He preaches Jesus’s’ teaching to Jew and non-Jew. Saul becomes Paul. Paul preaching

of Jesus’s’ interpreted teaching, creates the Christian movement, which leads to a World Churches

and made Christianity Today Possible.

Texts of Vision of Paul’s Conversion

There are Texts in and outside the Bible, that tell of Vision of Paul’s Conversion:

In Paul 2 nd Letter to the Corinthians. He once he makes a mysterious reference to a life changing

vision.

Bible Corinthians II C12, 3-4.

Modern Bible Scholars believe that this text in the Bible, is strong evidence that the Vision

happened. (Add reference).

In Book of the Apocalypse of Paul also known as The Vision of Paul; it tells an extraordinary story of

the Vision never related by the Bible which was denounced by the Roman Catholic Church. The text

tell of Paul’s descending into hell and going to heaven. (Add reference)(6).

He obviously has a profound visionary experience. The reason of Paul Conversion from persecutor

to preacher and the Vision of Paul’s Conversion has remain a mystery, until now.

The Mystery Vision of Paul’s Conversion, explained by Mandrake

Mandrake is a hallucinogenic drug, which explains the visionary experience. Mandrake can cause

heat intolerance, making him feel unbearably warm and the added effect of the hallucinogenic

properties, would explain his descending into hell, as he would have imagined he was on fire. (Add

reference)(3,10,12). The psychoactive effect of Mandrake can also produce a heaven like

experience. Paul sees a mighty light from heavens. One of the most common side effects of

Mandrake is short term pupil dilation (Mydriasis), which can make vision seem much brighter. (Add

reference)(3,4,10,12-14). Vision problems, particularly short term, is another common side effect,

and it can even causes short term Blindness, which according to the Bible he has for three days.

(Add reference)(3,4,12-14). Another common side effect is its emetic effect (Nausea & Vomiting).

(Add reference)(3,4,12-14). The Bible says for three days he was without sight, and didn’t eat or

drink for these days. As Eyesight, apatite & thirst are over the same time period, explain that it most

likely that the pharmacological emetic effect was the cause of him not eating or drinking, or was at

least a contributing factor. The fact that he did not drink, is more evidence that it was

pharmacological as not drinking can be unbearable for a time period of 3 days, more so in an arid

climate like; and almost certainly was not cause by a psychological effects, even if the Bible is

exaggerating. Its pharmacological effects are caused by alkaloids that have anticholinergic

properties. (Add reference)(3,10,12). The evidence hidden in the Bible, links is below:

Bible. Acts of the Apostles: Chapter 9, 1 to 9.

Bible. Acts of the Apostles: Chapter 9, 18.

Jesus Apostles using Psychoactive Substances in Bible

There is part of the, “Book Acts of the Apostles,” were psychoactive drugs are being used by

Apostles Peter and other Apostles of Jesus. In the Bible in Acts it states to new wine. In the text

they have a mind altering experience and visions. The word new tell us that the wine was mix with

Substances, perhaps mandrake. Alcohol in wine, can be used to extract the drugs’ properties. The

evidence hidden in the Bible, link is below:

Bible. Acts of the Apostles: Chapter 2, 12 to 22.

Reason for Bible silence about Paul’s final years

In ending, the Mandrake uses now explains the Reason the Bible is silence about Paul’s final years.

Mandrake has toxic anticholinergic effects which increase the risk of developing Dementia. (Add

reference)(3,4,10,12). It did effect his sight, when he used the drug and caused permanent brain

damage. In 57AD Paul in Jerusalem, he gets arrested in the temple for triggering a riot. (Add

reference)(7). Paul reveals his Roman citizenship and is sent to Rome for trial. Bible says for 2 years

he lives a life of surprising freedom, in Rome, and preaches the word of God. The Bible is then

silence about Paul trial, it verdict and this Death. (Add reference)(7). I believe Paul was acquitted, at

the trail, there was no reason to execute Paul as a Christian, as they were not yet illegalized in the

Roman Empire. (Add reference)(44). Why give him so much freedom and then execute him? Paul

use of Mandrake, causes him to develop Dementia in his final years, and the Bible would not write

about the Saint that made Christianity possible, going mentally ill.
