Chesham House
The Exclusive Wilderness Estate, Chislehurst

An impressive six bedroom
detached house of just under
7000 sq ft, set in the most
prestigious gated road in
Chislehurst, more or less
equidistant from Chislehurst
Station and the High Street.
The property also offers further
potential to extend subject to
the necessary consents being
obtained.
Upon entering the impressive large
hallway the sweeping staircase certainly
makes for a grand entrance. The formal
sitting room can be found on the left
hand side with an attractive feature
fireplace and double doors into the
study which overlooks the garden. A
formal dining room is open plan to the
conservatory with views again over the
grounds.

The fitted ‘Stoneham’ kitchen/breakfast room has
an extensive range of quality wood cabinetry and
appliances. This leads to a family room, a utility room
and then into a fabulous games room measuring
33’2 x 23’6 along with a shower room. There is also
an amazing fully temperature controlled wine room
complete with racking and 2,500 bottle capacity.
A double garage along with a guest WC and cloakroom
complete the downstairs accommodation.
Moving up the sweeping staircase to the first floor
there are four spacious double bedrooms all with
ensuite bathrooms and the master also boasts a
walk in wardrobe and dressing room. To the second
floor two guest bedrooms lead off a guest lounge,
and there is a dressing room and ensuite bathroom.
Outside there is a beautiful landscaped 215’ west
facing garden backing Chislehurst Golf Course
including a fantastic covered barbecue area with
an ‘outdoor kitchen’ perfect for entertaining. To the
front there is a large carriage driveway. The overall
plot is 0.75 of an acre.

A little bit of history...
The Camden Park Estate with its manor house,
Camden Place, gained notoriety when it became
home in exile of Napoleon the Third, Emperor of the
French, and the Imperial Family in 1870. The death
of the Emperor in 1873 left the widowed Empress in
residence until she moved to Hampshire. In 1890 the
estate was put up for sale and the William Willetts,
father and son, property developers purchased the
estate.
They had a vision for a much larger scale development
originally, but there was local opposition and the
compromise was for Camden Place to become
Chislehurst Golf Club with Camden Park Road
and Wilderness Road created to provide substantial
homes. The first homes in Wilderness Road were
occupied in 1906 and the remainder of the road was
developed predominantly between then and the late
1930’s. Today there are 31 properties in the road with
the 32nd under construction.

“I am fortunate to have the privilege of visiting many
of Chislehurst’s finest homes in the most sought after
roads, yet still now after 20 plus years of working in
Chislehurst, on entering Wilderness Road it has the
ability to surprise you as to just how wonderful a road
it is. It is truly a hidden gem. Chesham House is a
rare chance to purchase a home on one of the roads
larger plots backing the golf course and offers scope to
personalise to your own taste and specification
