Motif Board
For my motif i started with a picture
from my primary research of a dried
pressed flower.
I then used photoshop to isolate the motif
and use filter gallery-poster edges.
Then i used illustror using image trace, experimetning
with colour and lines and tones
within the motif.
I then began to distort and change colours
of pieces of the motif to a colour pallet that
i liked and suited my theme.
Using envelope distort

create interesting

Art Nouveau is characterized by its
use of a long, sinuous, organic line
and was employed most often in architecture,
interior design, jewelry
and glass design, posters, and illustration.
It was a deliberate attempt to
create a new style, free of the imitative
historicism that dominated much
of 19th-century art and design.
Calico, all-cotton fabric woven in plain, or
tabby, weave and printed with simple designs
in one or more colours. Calico originated
in Calicut, India, by the 11th century,
if not earlier, and in the 17th and 18th centuries
calicoes were an important commodity
traded between India and Europe.
The arabesque is a form of artistic decoration
consisting of "surface decorations
based on rhythmic linear patterns
of scrolling and interlacing foliage, tendrils"
or plain lines, often combined
with other elements. ... Interlace and
scroll decoration are terms used for
most other types of similar patterns.

Repeat Process
I created a colour pallet and developed
zig zag/wavy and plaid repeat patterns
from these colours.
I just experimented with the zig zag
and wavy options in ‘distort and
transform.’
I created the diamond pattern by distorting
a zig zag pattern
I created the overlapped plaid print by
layering a opaque layer at 50% over the
original print. i also did this with a
wavy pattern to see theeffect i would
create.

Straight repeats and
simple half drop repeats
Showing the development of my
straight prints and how it was
used to make a basic straight
repeat and half drop print pattern.
I created this motif by using the
‘types of grey’ in image trace and
changed each shade to a different
colour.

Print design development board
Prints that i developed that
did make the final 3.
This is a series of prints that i created
using the same motifs.
I tried to create my patterns with similar
motifs but creatign them in basic striaght
repeats, overlapped and half drop repeats.

I created this print by suign the same
motif in different ways with image
trace. usign black and white logo and
changing the colour and also using
shades of grey and individiually
changing the colours.
I used an 8 X 8 cm bounding boxand
aligned it into a rectangular box with
a background in ‘peachy keen.’

I used 2 types of image tracing to create
the motifs and changed the colours to
create this straight pattern .
The tile set up is 8X8 cm square and concentrated
the motifs on the right side of
the pattern tile.

This is a half drop
repeat created from
motifs using ‘image
trace’ using ‘shades of
grey’ and silhouette by
changing the colours.
I created the tile using
a 8 X 8 cm pattern tile
and when i repeated
them together i alignd
the middle box to
create a rectangular
bounding box.
