The difference between type “2” and type “1”<br />
✔ For type “2”, IEC 947 requires that the starter must<br />
remain functionally serviceable after a short-circuit<br />
switch-off.<br />
✔ For type “1”, the contactor and overload relay may<br />
be damaged after a short-circuit switch-off.<br />
Replacement of the motor starter is usually<br />
necessary.<br />
Type “2” is therefore the better solution:<br />
✔ Advantages of type “2”:<br />
• no reserve starter is required<br />
• rapid restoration of operation after a short-circuit<br />
switch-off.<br />
