She gazes at me,
Her hazelnut brown eyes
Cold, distant.... defeated.
Somehow she looks familiar,
Suddenly I feel as though I know her.
For that guarded look
Was all to familiar to me.
She looks like an island,
Cut off from the world
Rejected
Denied
Unwanted
I take a step towards her
She seems to flinch as though I've actually hurt her
I gasp
The pain of this woman evident in her every move
And her very appearance
Oh I how I'm sure I know this woman
And it hits me
I've been that woman.
THIS
WOMAN.
