If you knowwhat you want and are prepared, or desirea committed or dedicated set up, you’renot going to be disappointed, it’s a properupgrade from standard.As should be expected, for the price,the pro Cone Valve fork at around £2,600is top line quality. CNC, clear anodisedlower clamps, black anodised stanchionsand fancy orange guides wouldn’t allowyou to line up on the quiet. Likewise, therear shock, at circa £1,800 is also a thingof beauty. The inattentive wife mightnot notice, but your riding mates willsee it before they’re out of the van. It’sinteresting at this price that the fork slidersremain chrome plated as against themuch fancier looking Ti Nitride of othervendors. The official WP line is that the TiNitride does offer a lower friction than thechrome, but only for a very short whilebefore the surface becomes dulled (whichoccurs after only a few hours) after whichthe harder wearing chrome finish holdsits own. It’s also much harder wearinggenerally. We’ll agree it doesn’t look astrick, but the rest, and the performance,more than make up for it.So, in summary… Do you need active airsuspension on your road car? Does yourvan need 150+ bhp, air con and cruisecontrol? Not really. Do they make your lifebetter? You bet. Do you need posh shocks?Of course.38www.rustsports.com
