ON TESTON TESTMitas C10 Speedy CrocTyre reviews can be pretty subjective. Not all ofus ride at the same level and even then, stylesand strengths differ. So, what one rider may likeof a tyre characteristic the other may not. Theone commonality is when enough of us like thetyre as a performer it gains a reputation and awell-deserved following. That’s the case herewith the Mitas C10 Speedy Croc – odd nameadmittedly.The C10 Speedy Croc is in essence a good allrounder.According to the spec it’s designed foruse in ‘very wet, muddy and slippery conditionsthrough to intermediate type terrain’ but myexperience is that this tyre ably goes beyondthat and for the price this trye is a surprisingfind. In fact, I’m fast becoming a Mitas convertas I’ve had only good experiences riding onMitas tyres recently, for instance the E07s onthe KTM 690 Enduro R were fabulous on roadand off.Bearing in mind this tyre is viewed as abudget tyre it punches well above its weight.I find the tyre exceptional in all but twoscenarios. The first is on hard pack with loosebits on top where it skates – and no one likesan unexpected two-wheel drift. The other ison slick wet rock, same thing. The reason isthat the sidewall rolls a little. This is especiallypronounced on downhill off-cambers. Bearingin mind the product description you beginto understand those limitations. But if you’reaware of this then you’re good to go withanything else and be confident that the tyre isgoing to perform well – and for a long while.Boy, this tyre lasts!I bought four C10s this month and paid €52each for them. In the UK you can find them foras little as £39. Great value – you’ll do a lot ofmiles training on these without breaking thebank. They are not FIM approved given theirknobbie height but for training they providegreat all-round performance and in some casesexceptional traction, they last long and costlittle. What’s not to like?
