Collection of food caddies will stop June 2021
What’s changing and why?
You must now recycle food waste, tied in a compostable
bag, along with loose garden waste in your brown
Your bin will continue to be serviced every fortnight on the
usual collection day. Your weekly food caddy collection will
stop. This will be kinder to our environment, cutting down
on carbon miles and making recycling easier for you.
What should I do with my food caddy?
Your lockable caddy is yours to keep. You can continue to
use it to transfer food waste into your wheelie bin or clean
it out and use it to store items such as pet food, garden
items etc. If you do not wish to use it for these purposes,
ask a friend if they’d like it or take it to the plastic skip at
your local recycling centre.
TIP: In order to keep your wheelie bin clean, line the
bottom of it with newspaper or torn up cardboard.
What happens to your food and garden waste?
Your food and garden waste is taken to a special processing
plant where it is recycled into compost which is used in
community spaces, parks and gardens and community
gardens. By recycling your food and garden waste, you
will reduce the amount of food in landfill sites.

You can recycle all garden waste with food waste in your brown
wheelie bin. Please place all garden waste loosely and put food
waste in a compostable bag.
