Dear Parents and Carers,

The desire for inspirational, quality education for primary age delivered on home

soil has influenced the establishment of the British International Junior School

(BIJS), Victoria Island, Lagos.

A well-rounded and fulfilling educational experience has its roots in a solid foundation

in a child's developmental years.

With the development of skills, goals, character and confidence in each pupil as

its covenant, BIJS, a preparatory school for children in the year group 5 to 11,

opens its gate and welcomes its pioneer pupils ultra-modern, purpose-built campus

and classrooms in September 2021.

You are welcome to what promises to be an exciting, beneficial and fulfilling experience.

I am delighted to announce that British International Junior

School (BIJS) newly purpose-built campus will be opening its doors

for children aged 5 to 11 from September 2021. We offer the British

curriculum combined with the Cambridge International Primary

inquiry-based learning approach. Our core mission is to lay the foundation

for quality learning to enable pupils to succeed in the everchanging

global context.

The pupils who join us will embark on a personalised learning

journey leading up to the British International Secondary School (BIS Nigeria), an exceptional

educational provider situated on the same grounds. Our BIJS core values aim to

develop six main character qualities in every child: kindness, perseverance, flexibility,

productivity, accountability, and leadership. The overarching "every pupil in every lesson"

philosophy, which both schools adhere to, focuses on achieving personal growth and academic

excellence, encouraging our pupils to thrive as individuals with a strong moral compass.

At the heart of the British International Junior School (BIJS) is the vision of establishing

an innovative school that aims to teach children 21st-century skills (learning and

innovation; digital literacy; and career and life skills) and encourage them to nurture their

interests and discover new talents.

Our curriculum is very different from that of other local schools. We focus on the

'whole child' by developing the 'head' - academics; 'heart' - emotional intelligence;

'health' - sports and wellbeing; and 'hand' - creativity and problem-solving. Based on extensive

pedagogical research and outstanding British educational models, the BIJS curriculum

places pupils on a clear path for learning success all through IGCSEs.

We are committed to small class sizes to ensure that pupils get the attention and

support they deserve. That is why our classes will have 15 to a maximum of 20 pupils in a

class. Our safe, caring and engaging environment will allow our pupils the adequate space

and time to prepare for "a greater tomorrow", ready to grasp the opportunities offered by

the modern world.

Our goal is to be a place of joy, wonder, and discovery, where pupils learn to think

critically, ask and answer deep questions, and work collaboratively while carrying a sense

of kindness and respect for others and the environment.

We are looking forward to sharing more information with you about the British International

Junior School (BIJS) and invite you to attend our Open Days, check our website

and follow the news on our social media channels.

A warm welcome awaits you upon the opening of our school.

Our mission is to lay the foundation for quality learning to

enable pupils to succeed in the ever-changing global context.

Our core values are based on the In 2015 report by the World Economic Forum

titled 'New Vision for Education: Unlocking the Potential of Technology'. The report

defined a set of 6 "character qualities" that are essential for education in the

21st century.

intelligence; 'health' - sports and wellbeing; and 'hand' - creativity and

problem-solving.

BIJS believes that the curriculum includes all pupils' learning experiences, both

inside, 'taught curriculum, and outside the classroom, 'wider curriculum'. We offer

the British National Curriculum as a basis for our taught curriculum. The 'wider

curriculum' refers to the co-curricular activities (CCA) programme, Arts and

Sports, and the trips programme.

To deliver our curriculum, we combine three of the most prominent curriculums

around the world: the British National Curriculum (NC), the Cambridge International

Primary Curriculum (CAIE), and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).
