Carlow College, St. Patrick’s is<br />
situated in its own grounds on<br />
an eighteenth-century parkland.<br />
Hosting the public Carlow Art<br />
Collection on its ground floors,<br />
Carlow College is one of Ireland’s<br />
finest public buildings located on<br />
magnificent grounds and within<br />
ten metres of VISUAL arts centre.<br />
The art collection was a voluntary<br />
initiative. Artists in the collection<br />
include Bridget Flannery, Hilary<br />
Elmes, Frank O’Meara, Hughie<br />
O’Donoghue, and Victor Zevakin.<br />

Home to the Duckett family from<br />
the 18th to early 20th century and<br />
formerly at the centre of a 20,000<br />
acre estate. Even in ruin, the surviving<br />
towers and turrets of Duckett’s Grove<br />
form a romantic profile. Two Georgian<br />
kitchen gardens form part of the<br />
complex where the old paths have<br />
been revealed and the beds and<br />
borders reinstated.<br />
