Family Fun Day
Haigh Woodland transforms into Jurassic Park on
Saturday July 10th when two life size dinosaurs – Raptor
and Roxy – arrive along with a brood of baby dinosaurs.
A family friendly event in one of the region’s best loved
woodland parks. Have a roaring good time with life-size
dinosaurs and their rangers roaming the park.
Raptor is the first animatronic Velociraptor in the UK,
measuring just over four metres long, whilst Rexy is a
juvenile T-Rex. She is a handful, but she loves to meet
people and sometime chase them.
The rangers will be on hand to share all their amazing
knowledge and facts for any aspiring palaeontologists.
Song and dance shows with the rangers and baby
dinosaurs will take place throughout the day.
You’ll be able to download an app which will help you
hunt down the dinosaurs on your phone and see them
come to life when you find them. There will be prizes for
the best photos submitted from the day. There will also be
20 dinosaur eggs hidden around the park and woodland.
outside so participants can paint clay models of dinosaurs
and fossils, though charges do apply for this activity.
Otherwise the event is free and car parking for the day
costs just £3.
Parbulele Returns
Parbold will once again reverberate with the sound of
ukuleles as Lancashire’s biggest and brightest ukulele
festival returns to the village this summer. Events take
place over the weekend of 30th July to 1st August at the
village’s pubs: The Wayfarer, The Stocks and The Windmill.
In addition, there will be music at the main festival venue
at Mill Leat and at the community café Café Etc. on Station
Road.
For those who fancy learning or improving their ukulele
skills, workshops will be running throughout the
weekend. All profits from the weekend will be donated to
NHS Charities Together.
For more details about the Parbulele Ukulele Festival,
please visit @Parbulele on Facebook.
Haigh Stables Gallery will be bringing their workshop
