Mayer, was affected. On June21, 1932, Film Daily reported thatMonte left for Chicago to attend theDemocratic national convention andplanned a stop in Indianapolis to discussa book publishing venture withprospective backers.Mayer, a staunch Republican,could not have been happy aboutthe convention.
