Holy Child Summer School to offer students with the opportunity to improve their
English and gain an internationally
recognised English qualification, as well as study a variety of other subjects
such as :

FOCUS - 100% concentrating on
football and education during
training and class time. Anything
less is unacceptable for a Stars
player.
NUTRITION - Coaches, staff and
family can only do so much to help
players eat a balanced diet. Each
student has to take repsonsibility
for their own diet.
FIGHT - Not literally of course!
However, each student needs to
fight to gain a place in the team, to
keep that place and for their
teammates. This fight is
demonstrated through hard work
and perserverance, not punches
STRENGTH - Reach and maintain
the peak physical condition
resembling a professional
footballer.

MINDFULNESS - Football is as
much psychological as it is
physical. Therefore, its vital to
recognise and stay in control of
emotions
LEADERSHIP - Learn to respect and
demonstrate strong leadership skills
on and off the pitch.
HEART - The desire to wake up
every day and be better than the
day before.
TECHNIQUE - Every player has a
different skill set. We expect every
player to bring their unique style to
Stars Football while learning from
their fellow players and coaches to
prepare.

FOOTBALL - Become a student of
the game through studying

ACCLIMAT
Acclimatisation:
- adaptation to a new climate (a new
temperature or altitude or environment)
In the grandest traditions let us start
by telling you a brief story…
Once upon a time a Premier League
manager was looking to sign a new
player.
He looked at two players for his club,
both were 17 years old, both strikers
and both scored 30 goals in their
league last season, both had ten assists,
both leagues were the same
standard, both even had the same
agent. Phenomenal players both!
How to choose the player? What could
seperate these records?
It can only come down to tiny differences
what we call at Stars Football the
competitive advantage:
All players that join the program at
Stars Football go through various processes
to help them acclimatise and
normalise to the UK and Europe, their
culture and environment. We often
hear from Premier League TV pundits
that players have to ‘adapt’ or ‘adjust’
to the UK when they join a British
club, they even say we should expect
£50,000 a week players to take a year to
settle!
Not our students.
They have already:
1. Eaten a wide variety of new foods
and lived on a Pro players diet.
2. Travelled by air, road and rail in
Europe.
3. Topped up their mobile phone,
used the UK electrical system.
4. Watched British TV, the news and
studied the UK media.
5. Been shopping, supervised and
alone in big and small shops.
6. Know where to get a haircut, visit the
doctors, fetch medicine.
ISATION
7. Opened a bank account and ad
justed to the pound and her value.
8. Visited cinemas and know how to
enjoy their leisure time.
9. Have access to reptuable advisers
Our players have already overcome
that old Premier League cliché of
‘adapting’.
Never underestimate the value of acclimatisation
to an individual player.
When a manager is choosing between a
player he will look at the extras a given
player brings to the table.
When we hear about a player taking
time to ‘adjust’ or ‘adapt’ to the Premier
League. What does that mean? Is football
so different from country to country?
Yes and no. There are pace differences
and playing standard differences
of course but usually ‘adjusting’ or
‘adapting’ is so much more and relates
to everything from cuisine to language
through the weather differences to culture
the media and on.
Our players have already been through
that learning curve during their time
with us so all they need to focus on is
the football.
The African, American and Asian boys
adjust to Europe, the European boys
adjust to the UK, the UK boys adjust to
different styles of football and we end
up with a player who has experiences
in their memory bank to call on.
Thats why acclimatisation is such a big
deal and often the competitvie advantage
when it comes to contract time!
HIT THE NET
WITH LIFE SKILLS AT
It is not easy to make the transition from childhood to
adulthood. Young people must learn a variety of small but valuable skills in
order to be prepared for the next step of their lives, whether it is university or
professional football. In the next step of their lives, they will certainly live
much more independently than they did at home with you or with us.We will
focus on the student’s life skills to show them a variety of useful processes
and tasks to help them become independent and self-sufficient whilst they
are with us. Cleaning their boots, naming their sports kit, looking after their
material belongings, preparing simple meals, and maintaining their finances,
STARS FOOTBALL
Work time, leisure time, balancing effective study, budgeting their money,
writing their CV – and, depending on their age, learning to drive, insure a
vehicle, and perform basic car maintenance.
They will also learn important 21st-century life skills such as how to use the
internet to find the best price on an item, how to maintain their online social
media presence, how to protect their anonymity and online profile, how to
consider others intentions in online conversations, and how to understand
the strength and instantaneous nature of new online cultures in the global
village we all inhabit online.

FACILITIES
As you take your seat staring out onto the full size grass pitch, you can
visualise the life of the footballer. Next to our pitch is a brand new 5 a
side area as well as an area for Goalkeepers to train.
Our strength and conditioning coach will take you through
the warm up and coordination work to prepare you for the session
ahead. A pre-activation area can be used. From the football pitches
you can take a few small steps onto the football tennis courts. After
training, we have the nice cold ice baths to repair those tears in the
muscles and prevent injuries.
All home and away matches are recorded with players receiving
their very own clips to build your CV. All games are
analysed during the week in the tech suite where we encourage
the players to get involved and take responsibility. What
could you do different? Maybe another system of play?
We have full use of a state of the art Gymnasium and swimming
pool. During your down time, we have tennis courts, basketball
courts, and a games room which includes, table tennis and a pool
table. We also have a cinema room where we can watch films and
live football and play FIFA on the PS4!
RESOLUTION
‘Can I make it as a professional footballer?’
During their time with us, the Stars Football programme is meant to answer this issue for all kids
by pushing them to grasp the actual passion and commitment necessary to become a
professional player.
They will test themselves to their peers on a daily basis, they will be exposed to the professional
game through scouts and academy games, they will live the life of a professional player, they
will learn to push through the mental and physical obstacles necessary to improve their performance,
and they will discover whether they have the heart and drive to do so in themselves.
This is a crucial aspect of what we do because it ensures that the question is answered clearly
and that it does not linger into their mid-twenties. Players who do not have the ability or desire
to pursue a professional football career after they leave us will be able to focus on a new chapter
of their lives
STARS FOOTBALL PATHWAYS
PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL IN ENGLAND:
Daryl Willard, the director of football and head
coach, has extensive experience of the game in
the United Kingdom. His network is extensive.
We will position you in trials in England based
on your rank, passport, and international
honours.
PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL IN EUROPE:
We have official partnerships with top division
teams in Latvia, Georgia, and Lithuania, allowing
us to efficiently obtain trials for players with
professional potential. We choose these
countries because if you do well, larger clubs
will take notice
SEMI PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL:
Players may be included in semi-professional
football to obtain experience in the men’s game.
It will assist you in developing faster and
understanding the differences between
academy and men’s football.
AMATEUR LEVEL:
Players that need this level of skill and
expertise will join one of our Amateur men’s
teams. For those of you who think semi-pro
football is a step too far.
RELIGON
We take the responsibility of spiritual instruction for our students very
seriously. The staff will always work with families to make sure this part of
your child’s life is respected and your general and individual preferences
adhered to. We are experienced in understanding the different needs of
multiple faiths and can readily accommodate your requirements.
The central ideology of Stars Football is
compassion and respect for each other’s
religious values. Students and families of all
religions are warmly welcomed on our campus. Our
philosophy is that faith is a personal
matter that each citizen and family can
celebrate in their own way, and our duty as
programme leaders is to encourage worship through
organised attendance at formal
religious sites.

DARYL WILLARD NOTES
Of course our aim is to prepare excellent footballers here on the South
Coast at our fantastic facility but that is not the whole story. We also
intend to produce young men who are ready for a life not as a player.
The harsh reality is that professional football is competitivie and only
the elite few will be lucky enough to make a living from playing the
beautiful game. There are though a 101 jobs in football that keeps the
machine oiled from Lawyers to physios and agents and administrators,
media, business consultants and on and on. When a student joins
Stars Football we look at the whole picture and ensure there is a future
in or out of the game.Dual education and football pathways ensure
success for all!

HOME SWEET
HOME
The Holy Child College is situated in the heart of Hastings, a city steeped in heritage.
Hastings was the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066, which occurred right where Battle
Abbey now stands. In their days off, students are invited to socialise and visit the lovely
nearby town and its historical sights. Brighton and England’s capital city, London, are both
a fast rail ride away from Hastings. Students will travel to both on a daily basis to
sightsee, spend their pocket money, and ideally buy souvenirs for their families back
home!
We strongly encourage days out because cultural immersion helps in acclimatisation.
Each player who enrols at Stars will be walking into a piece of history, living and
studying at the College of The Holy Child in Hastings, a glorious 12 acre private
property.
In one of our traditional boarding houses, each first-year student will share a double
study with a teammate; second-year students will be assigned single studies. Each
study has a homework desk as well as areas to relax with comfortable chairs. Of course,
there is plenty of storage space for clothing, as well as beautiful polished wooden floors
throughout.

they take to the field it is down to
